Piston rings/bake question

Post by purplepeter » 16th November 2006 - 10:52pm

Hi,Has anyone got a parts book?I need to identify a couple of sets of rings:311 198 169A and 311 198 263A does this ring any bells for anyone??
Second question relates to the brake master cylinder-am i right in assuming there should be 2 brake light switches?and that theyre just connected in paralell?-i've only got one,and a dodgy looking bolt that looks like previous owners bodge!
cheers,peter

I'm never far from a parts book Peter... :D

169A = 85.5mm set (1600), standard size from engine # T0411 116 (early 67 by the looks of it)
263A = 83mm set (1500), with coil spring scraper rings From Eng # 255 340 to 1 100 000 (8/63 - 7/65)

It depends on the year of the car.
Single circuits obviouslly have had one switch and so would 68 and 69 twin circuit cars.
1970 and later cars have a switch for each circuit.

Replacement cylinders would I guess be universal, so would have 2 ports.

Hope that helps,

Mike.

Mike,
Thank you!!That confirms that i've got the right rings,and that the previous owner of my car was a bit of a bodger-i shall mutter a few choice words next weekend when rectifying the brakes!
cheers!
