411 brake layout?

Post by adi #2 » 20th January 2010 - 8:40pm

Does anyone happen to know what the brake system layout on a 411 is? How are the circuits split, and is there a rear compensator?

Or ideally, anyone happen to have a diagram?

Thanks

The brakes are dual circuit, split into front and rear circuits. There is a proportioning (sp?) valve on the 2 doors, but not on the wagons. I believe there is also one on the 4 doors. It is a worthy upgrade to add one if your car does not have one.

Ah, ok. So, on my LE variant, they are liturally like this?

One circuit to both fronts, one to both rears, no compensators or anything at all?

Thanks

Would have wanted to post this yesterday, but while i was typing this forum obviously crashed again...

Brakes are split to front and rear sections. All sedan models had braking pressure regulator but i'm not sure about wagons. I've never seen a pressure regulator on a wagon, but i guess atleast US-models had it.

Sorry, I was still in Type 3 land!

I think some models of Type 4 have a brake servo as well - optional extra though.

I have checked the parts book, and it seems only the Sedans (both 2 and 4-door) show the proportioning valve. There was no particular mention of years involved, but that doesn't mean it was fitted to all Sedans made, just that there were no changes to the design.

The Haynes manual has those lower two diagrams. Anyone without a Haynes Type 4 manual is missing out on useful info - there was one on e-Bay for about £5 inc post the other day. There's so little about the Type 4 anywhere else, it's foolish not to spend a fiver on this source.
