Our 411

Post by starsky » 15th September 2010 - 8:54pm

hello, this is the amazing rust free barn find 411 we(Me and Animal) have acquired to restore.
WE really like the super nicheness of it and cant wait to get stuck in.
We have both have owned and restored beetles and buses but this is an altogether different project all together hence the safety in numbers.

Great to see another Type 4 emerging from a time off the road.

How complete is it?

Like i said, its in amazing condition, just surface rust. I have all the parts to put it back , all but the cables, master cylinders and disc calipers.......i think :paranoid:
The easy bit will be the paint and body restoration. The hard parts are as far as i can see at the moment. Engine back together(part restored) Brakes of which parts i have never seen, Petrol heater and steering. :?

Hi Simon,
Nice to see your car yesterday. I looked out a few links that might be of use,
http://www.brakesint.co.uk
http://www.status-vw.co.uk/shop/index.h ... lang=en-gb
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3802
http://www.rennlist.com/techarticles/djetronicfuel.htm
The last link will help with the fuel injection.
Give me a call if you need any more help.

Regards Ron

it all depends on the year of the 411. The brake pads, discs and calipers all differ between years. In our early years we got caught out many a time with our 1970 411. The discs can be the most awkward bits as some have recessed oil seals and some have flushed. If you have no brake assembly at all it might be worth considering buying a complete stub axle with the trimmings (Brakes even if the brake pads are no good you know what you to build on) We can help you and can post things by courier of a weight of upto 25kgs for £10 and we do accept car payments as well. We still have a number of 411's that we are breaking as they have been here a long time.

Sorry Guys :? , due to economic pressures we are going to give up our fab 411 to someone who has the time and means to put her back together. :(

Around £800 but this is negotiable. You can see it at Webbs of Warmley. http://www.webbsofwarmley.com

I will give you guys first chance before she goes on Evilbay.
