Brakes now work, but clutch doesn't...

Post by Dubster » 12th June 2011 - 9:19am

Well after a couple of weeks of messing around with the golden heap, I now have a working brake master cylinder and a fully functional braking system... only to find yesterday that the clutch master has started to weep :(

I had a spare, which has turned out to be completed seized, is sending my original to pastparts the best option, or are these any spares still available out there?

Cheers

Rich

yep, past parts is your best bet.
There was a rumour that they had a clutch slave cylinder on their shelf. If so, grab it!

The master cylinder came back from past parts this morning :D

Guess what I'm doing tonight!

Let us know how you get on with it as I might need their services for the 411...

Well past parts did a great job, my 412 now has brakes and a clutch :)

Going to give it a full service this week, plugs, points, new leads, rotor arm & cap etc, hopefully will have it running better, although to be honest I think that it needs a good run as much as anything else, it smells terribly of stale petrol when running, just the same smell as the old rotten fuel that I had to flush from the tank earlier in the summer.

Next job.... welding :(

Just out of interest, what sort of cost was involved with past parts? My clutch pedles seems to be creeping closer to the floor on a weekly basis, suspect weeping as well.
Not had time to look yet.
I seem to be developing quite a list at the mo of jobs to do... steering damper, body work, clutch, on and on and on... :?
Cheers Jon

Glad you got it sorted

It's around £110 for a master cylinder re-bore if they have not put up their prices recently.
Make sure the petrol smell goes away before you start welding Dubster!!!!
