Beetle tuning 2275 :S

Post by iain » 20th March 2012 - 1:16pm

Hello there,

I am new to the forum and am looking for information about tuning a type 4 engine and have a few questions.
The car is a 1963 car, has been well looked after but it is stock, at 4k, so..should I leave it stock at this price for classic collectable reasons or is it fine to upgrade one at this price level.

I was aiming for 150-200 hp 2232 cc and wondered who to go to in the uk. - Certainly seems lots of tuners stateside, but I am not really keen on the importing costs and wondered if I could get a better deal over here in England :)
Would a smaller turbo engine be cheaper than the above? say a 1600-1800 cc
How do you cope with the extra heat being air cooled?
How much would it cost, to build, I was thinking around 4k for the engine, am I even close??
Additional costs brakes and suspension costs?
Overall costs for the upgrades associated with the car.
Rust isn't too bad, can we dealt with some works

thanks

Iain

welcome to forum.

there are good type 4 specialists in the UK, the 2 I would reccomend you talk to is:-

Stateside tuning

http://www.statesidetuning.co.uk/

LA Performance

I'm running a type 4 in a fastback but is just 2 litre displacement
