Re: Get ready for tears.......poor 412, why why why!
It was owned by a club member,& i'm very surprised to see he's let it go as an insurance jobby..That car really has had extensive work,to the extent that the mudflaps are one offs,re-engineered copies from from originals.Wing beading, exhaust & even decals were reproduced by the same method.
Very sad to see it like this.. Hopefully the new owner will contact the club & between us we can point them at the spares needed to put it back on the road!-Seller has put a note on the listing to that effect.
Anyone who's got his number...best not to call him!.. its best left alone.

What happened there! If that's the car I'm thinking of that was MINT at Stanford last year and is one of the most rot free Type 4s I've seen.
If someone saves it I've got most of the glass here to replace the broken windows.
Some very rare parts on that car and it needs to be put right

I no Shawn,
I was thinking same. I remember looking under it and thinking wow!
Altho to put your mind at rest, i am almost certain that that one lives in Chesterfield near me.
That one has Lpg near me. So if that helps??
Such a shame either way.

hi, we are selling the car on ebay because we collected it locally and thought although our knowledge is limited it was sad to scrap it, so we listed it on ebay in hope that an enthusiast would buy it. i am happy to email any additional photo on request. It is not important how the vehicle ended in a scrap yard as the previous owner wanted no further attachment/ contact with or reguarding the vehicle which we will respect. we think it is more important that it is restored. i spoke to member purplepeter today (i think) who had knowledge of the car through the club and possible avalibility of spares. so lets hope it will go to a good home.

Thanks,Tracey,Yes it was Me you spoke to.
As I said & as Shawn has indicated,Between us we'll make sure the new owner can replace all the glass asap. We have the resto report/article that the previous owner wrote & will pass that to the new owner as well.
Thanks for being a scrappy with a heart & not crushing it!

I have some glass too. Hopefully the new owner will come here to see what we have.

It's a very sad sight, similar to seeing a previously much-loved Type 3 Variant that suffered an engine fire, and was sold for parts only - not allowed to be rebuilt, though I bet it would have been perfectly serviceable metal, even after the heat treatment.

Its a very strange story indeed if its true!!! Not going to go into details as has been said it was at the previous owners request that he had nothing more to do with it. Still a very sad sorry state indeed!
