Chrome paint - not too bad...

Post by 412 Fasty » 6th May 2012 - 1:33am

Did this in order to look a bit better for stanford but obviously its been called off for now..

The light surrounds were painted black when i painted the car for a change.

Was in two minds whether or not to waste £6 on "chrome" paint from wilkos or not, but as usual the picture of the 412 in my mind won

And altho not perfect, i think it looks a little better. Would actually reccomend this stuff, plastikote chrome paint....

What ya think? ( bought yellow film for lights too - please tell me ifya think it looks shite, cant decide)

As honest as that pic shows that looks really good IMO . It's convinced me to go ahead with ordering a can I was looking at on eBay.

Cheers for comments, and thanks marko for yellow light opinion ;)

I'll take a couple of closer shots. By no means would i do a front bumper in it, but its a good cheap solution to get a near enough effect.

agreed, I would rather a slightly pitted bumper then a fake chrome job. and the light surrounds would look strange fully chromed anyway, you got the right look there

Certainly better with the chrome effect light surrounds than the black.

An old thread, but I think this is worth it being dragged up again.

Perhaps because they were never fitted to UK Spec 412s, cast metal headlight surrounds exist in Europe Hella VW Part 411-941-175 left, and 411-941-176 right.

I've just taken delivery of a pair from Germany and plan to get them properly chromed, I already have a pair of Silver Plastic, and a pair of Black Plastic surrounds, and was tempted by Chrome Paint, but then recently discovered metal surrounds exist.

Just thought everyone would want to know.
