412LS 2 door variant

Post by jammytask » 14th July 2006 - 7:22am

Hello,

I have just found this forum and need some advice please. I have a friend who has offered me the car described, it has loads of interesting history and very few owners but no MoT. The condition is OK but not perfect by any means. He doesn't know how much to ask and I haven't a clue of it's value?

My questions to you all are?
How much?
What are the problem areas for spares/bodywork?
Is it worth saving?

Thanks
Chris T

By the way I have a split van and a trekker.

Hello mate and welcome.
As for how much its worth, well some guides rate them from £100-£2000,so condition is everything.
body wise they seem to rust just about anywhere (same as every other dub :D ) parts are a bit of a problem, but with a bit of inginuity and the good people on this site nothing that cant be overcome,

The last bit "Are they worth saving" well when was the last one you saw on the road!

hope you get it and good luck. All the best Dazmax :D

You could take that either way - everyone else has seen the light and scrapped them, or they're worth saving as they're rare. ;-)

I think we all feel they're worth saving.
Dave.

The Power of the Webmaster

Yes - I delete anything that shouldn't be here! That was only posted to make it look as if they were active - presumably some automatic spam watching software is alert to spam website advertising ploys.

Luckily, almost everyone is here because they're interested in Type 3 or Type 4 VWs, and are polite or restrained or both! Consequently I very rarely delete anything, but I have the power.

We do have a couple of other moderators in case something outrageous gets posted and I'm not around to do anything about it. They can delete offensive mails, but cannot change membership lists eg.

I delete spammers, but only recently have we had a rash of people signing up just to push their viagra or other website.
