hi , 412 fans ,, if you want to restore or change your chrome door molding ,, ,, yes we can buy today in différent vw store , aluminium molding ,, but for the stainless molding (412 original) they don't exist ,,, but if you look on the audi 5000 or 200 turbo (1985-1990) on the front plastic grill you have stainless bar they are the same on the 412 but stainless steel and with small modification hand made you can buy on audi dealer $40. each or appx ,or you can look in the scrap yard $5. ,,the lent is correct for the fenders and the doors just cut for the application ,, this message is only for small suggestion... baby bleu

If I'm reading this right, the stainless trim strip on the front grille of some Audis is the same basic section, and can be cut to length and the ends shaped to match the Type 4 door moulding.

That would work for Type 3s too, then.

yes that is correct ,, they are more long( audi 5000, 200 turbo) and in the middle of this chrome front molding from audi there is a small bend 5 degrées appx. just push to make straight , and you can cut with steel hand saw for the 412 ( doors or fenders ) and to do the end cap , you cut only 1/8 and bend with tool, and you can do soft solder inside for to close all that ,,,( soft solder= acid soft solder for home plumming ) use only soft solder with acid core inside , not résine core ,, and d,t buy the clip from audi dealer they are very expensive 1.25$ each,,,vw sell the same for .50cents
