VW TYPE 3 & 4 CLUB FORUM

Hello!

I joined this forum as I bought a 412 automatic and there aren't many clubs for them. But I also have a 1965 type 34, so I'll put some information of it to here.

It's more or less a project car I bought from Germany few years ago, not registered and still needs some work to be street legal. Here with my other Ghia, in storage:


Engine runs but it can't move the car as it stalls when you release the clutch, fuel issues suspected (fuel pipe full of sand/rust?). I fixed the brakes and now it rolls and stops nicely. 3 out of 4 brake hoses were broken and didn't allow back flow almost at all-> brakes stuck. Hand brake cables rusted solid, of course.

Lot of patches around the car and carpets missing but most of the small parts are there and those are hard to find, at any price.

Cool razor, I have a 412 auto

The front flexible hoses narrow over time until you can't even get air through them. At least it's an easy job to change them. The rears don't seem to suffer the same problem.

I was thinking "that's an nice interesting wooden garage", and then I realised you are from Finland

It's actually upstairs of a cowshed, traditional Finnish style. In the old times it was used to store hay for cows and farm tools, now cars and stuff.

Anything designed for hay is good for cars too, dry and good air circulation. Cold of course, mice and birds and junk from shingle roof underneath the tin on top, so some preparations needed in autumn.

I lived near this place (~15 miles) almost 20 years and the owner isn't even a relative, I've just rented few slots from him for my VWs as in the countryside rents are quite low. Now I had to move near to the work and it's 150 miles away, so I don't visit there often, two times in this summer.

But storage near here costs 10 times of that place so the cars will stay there. Here's a pics of the rest of the cars, just to amuse you. (BMW is a -87 750i. I've another one too, a -89 750iL.) You can actually see the profile of the BMW in the first pic if you look closely.
