My Greek 72 Squareback
My Greek 72 Squareback
Hi all,
This is my 1972 Squareback, originally from Greece, not yet registered but nearly ready to hit the road. It was Marina Blue originally although as you can see over the years its been 'treated' to various shades!

Thanks dude!Kai wrote:I like that!
Good news! It passed an MOT this week, so can get the ball rolling with registering it now. Popped over to CEVL in Shrewsbury to see it yesterday and had my first drive of it, including my first experience of aircooled or LHD on the road! Lots to get used to it but I love it
I do have a nice rear bumper but I'm missing one of the hangers for it, the non towing eye side. I've put a post in the Wanted section but if anyone has one please let me know so I can the bumper on.
Its living in good company at the moment

Also here's another shot I was sent showing the Beetle shocks and how clean it is under there now.

Very nice, like the two tone paintwork too.
Re: My Greek 72 Squareback 1600L
I've just had the 'birth certificate' through from Germany, hopefully that's going to solve a few of the issues the DVLA has with registering it.
Its great to have a bit more info and at least the start of it's history. It's a 1600L, made on 24th Sept 1971 and delivered to Greece 23rd Nov 1971. Still pretty certain it wasn't registered until 72 but nothing to prove that. Was cool to find out that it was definitely in Greece until it came here in 2012.
Currently I'm just trying to sort a small headache with regards to NOVA as the car came in pre-NOVA and 4 years before I bought it with little paperwork about the import itself. Hopefully all will be sorted soon, as I've got MOT and insurance and can't wait to get out in it!

Little update for anybody reading this, I sent a covering letter off with a part completed NOVA1 application form and explained in the letter why it hadn't been done before and why there was little paperwork from the import.Karmawill wrote:.....

They even rang me up and told me to check my emails and reply within 10 mins with some extra info or it would go to the back of the queue.
So that's all the bits the DVLA wanted, sent back to them...watch this space...I'll have a numberplate soon hopefully!
