Square is coming along nicely, o/a sill and rear quarter nearly finished so sorting out the surface rust on the wings
Saturday I investigated the rather potted paint on the lower part of the wing
Couldn't save the paint but will blend in some new
Turns out small rust bubbles were under the primer, and a small repair was in order
Inner section
Outer
Coat of primer as I ran out of time
A skim of filler and some Baltic blue and no more rust here thank you

Wow!
That's my old square, so lovely to see she's till about and getting some proper love
I had the drivers side floorpan fitted and sorted out the inner wings, but no fibreglass was used! They seem to have rotted quite a bit since but that was nearly on 20 years ago.
I recomissioned her after her buying her form a guy in Essex, she was in a bad bad way.
I'm quite often in Bristol so hope to see her about!
Anyhow, nice to see you doing such a nice job on her, I'll have a dig about and see if I can find anybits and pieces.
Cheers,
Mark

Hey Just,
Yeh I spent quite a bit on that car! Didn't have the best paid job and then was a student when I owned her so had to do the best with her I could on very limited finances. Still we got her road worthy (just about!!) which she really wasn't when I first saw her...
Got quite a few pics and stories of that car, like towing her in Holland on her seat belts when the motor blew!!!
Will see what I can find.
Looks like my friend lives just around the corner from your garage, would love to drop over and see her one weekend whan I'm down if that'd be okay?
Cheers,
Mark

All welding is done, I'm starting to put it back together, so painted the floor pans last week then fitting dynamat today
Then gave the rear cargo area a good clean as it had years of grime and dirt from the welding everywhere
And the cargo mat whilst I was at it
Nick is preparing it for its mot next week with a view to having it roadworthy the week after.
He also sorted the master cylinder issue and adjusted the pedals so now everything works as vw intended, gear shift now shifts gear, which is a bonus!
So wings still need finishing and fitting properly, but other than that's is just carpets ect and we are ready to roll.
I'll update next week

Drilled some holes in the sills to pump some waxoyl in, these will then be covered with the sill plates
Then couldn't resist putting the Cosmics on to give me a lift to get it finished

the bus should be top draw once its done just taking way longer than I ever thought so a side project is needed.

Having a push on this now,
This wing is almost finished
Gone for the white beading, wasnt sure at first whether black would have been better, but I like it!
Paint nicely blended here
I now have all the seals and fixing washers to get the wings fitted correctly. Just need to repair the ns wing then it can be bolter together and can make a start on the interior carpet...........
Gonna convert my awsome T1 1776 to fit this, build at great expense a couple of years ago for the bus. Bus now has a aircooled Chevy flat 6.......Would be a shame to miss this opportunity
