Bristol mini meet

Post by Creationblue » 19th October 2013 - 6:09pm

So today at CJ Motors we managed to get two Fastbacks & two Variants which is more than most VW shows! Then there's Wigs Earlybay, a latebay & a T25 (lurking in the background), Claire turned up with her Texas yellow beetle, and Nick was Woking on his Bay single cab, I'll let him post a pic of that, as I didn't take one

Nice to meet Peter & David, thanks for coming over & bringing your cars.

Mine just visible in the back

Colin joined the world of Internet forums today so I'll let him post up a pic of his wonderful Fastback.

I took a couple more. I'll leave the sneaky ones of my bus in though.

Great to see the gang down at CJ Motors in their well-hidden emporium, and the very tidy '73 1600E Fastback that Colin has bought recently.

It was a good way to get me to make the Variant look a bit more respectable! I even got round to replacing the sun-visor clips, both of which had failed over the past 6 months.

After not being used for several months, a charge of the 12-yr old battery (a half-amp trickle for two or three days is much more effective that a rapid burst) and a blow over the ignition parts with a warm air gun, and she burst into life. I need to give the cap, coil top and leads a good clean to save having to regard that as a normal starting procedure! While there a check of points condition, and a dab of grease on the cam would be worthwhile, then maybe pull and check the plugs, the valve clearances.... Lots of quality time needed with the car! More frequent use would keep everything drier too.
Dave.

Some nice cars there, wish I could have made it to meet some other members, but it was a bit too far for me to nip down.

Ah that's where Phil's one ended up! It's found a good home.
