So, lots more plumbing, and an intercooler and 350+ ponies and suspension upgrades and brake upgrades. You're going to be very busy :)

Well, the car is set up already for a turbo engine. I will not be running an intercooler as I am using e85. Just normal plumbing issues and the radiator has a workable space because of the mid-engine lay out.

Drove the squareback to a gathering tonight. Seems to be trustworthy now.

Going to measure vs the current hole to see what mods are needed. Flywheel for the swap is installed.

Things up top are getting a bit crowded. This is just a rough mockup to measure space.

Today I have the opportunity to put the square backup on the rack. As I had suspected the front end was put together but it wasn't set up. So, I got everything lined up correctly and the car drives like a completely different animal now. On top of that I found that I had a rear left wheel bearing going out So we replaced it and gave the whole vehicle a general once over. Another thing that I found was my reverse lights don't work because there is no wiring at all from the reverse lights to the switch on the transmission. So I get the figure out how to do that next.

Looks the reversing light should be a nice easy job in comparison to the other stuff you are on with :)

Been tweaking and driving the variant a bunch lately. But, i want to put a stock aircleaner from a 68 on the 71. Problem is, i have extra hoses on the right side of the engine that were not hooked to anything and are i the way. There is a 1/2 line coming off the #2 cylinder area on top. Where did that go to on a 1971 variant? Thick stock stuff is killing me.

Are the hoses off the right side of the air cleaner just part of the charcoal canister system?

Finally have my LeMans wheels on the car. All it required was removing the locktite'd wheel studs from the fro t hubs, pulling the hubs and machining off the hub centric set up. The front hubs are a 113 part number  but now, they are close to what they should be.
Now I can drop the nose a few splines and not rub.

Are they a smaller rim, or is it just the significantly lower profile front tyres ?

I cant offer any advice on the engine as its FI and im a carb man. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing the nose drop, I ran mind nose low some years ago and it did help with removing some understeer on cold wet days

Today was a problem solving day. We located the very annoying, ever present rattle. Found it to be in the rear engine mount, not the exhaust/heater/preheater assembly. So, we removed the right rear mount and inspected it. Nothing seemed out of place or broken, so we started the engine with a jack stand acting as that mount. Rattle gone!
So, we decide to pull the left rear mount and compare to the right. All is well. So, we switch the mounts side to side to see IF the issue moves. Nope! So, after more head scratching and diagnosing, we realize the rattle goes away when applying pressure to the right side of the exhaust. Hmmmm... decision time. We decide to raise the right side of the engine, shim the right side mount at the body. Bingo! Rattle gone!!!
After that, we determined my acc pump rods are set too long. So, tomorrow I will pull the carbs, shorten the throw, pull the spark plugs and clean/gap/or replace and try a different set of pkug wires to see if I can lose this warmed up, high speed miss. Getting closer!

Alright success! But not. It is down, but come to find out, both inner spline turns brought different results. i went 3 inner on both sides, but they sit differnt now. Was 1/16" difference before the drop. Now? 1.25"

So, I will get after the outer splines on the right again tomorrow.

It's ok, I'm bilingual on measurements and drivers side :)

Have you ever corner weighted the car - another measurement to optimise, when body panels etc may not be consistent ?
