But you do get a full gallon for that $12 - not the short measure as in the USA ! And it doesn't turn to treacle in the tank.

it isn't the cost of the fuel that is killing us over here in the colonies... it's the distance we freaking travel! at Casa de Fye we are FINALLY under 35k miles per year! FINALLY!!!

Yes, it's all the dead land between the nice bits that takes the time - I remember Idaho! Oases of interest from Wisconsin to Idaho in deserts of... well, desert scrub!

We have it all close together on a human scale, separated by small roads and traffic queues.

long overdue update!

the 343 has left the nest. it wasn't going to get attention at this point for a couple more years. it was traded for a squareback that only needs an engine... and i have an engine!

the notch racer is on the ground and will be getting the garage space the 343 was using. this means i can work on it in the evenings during the wet, wet, wet season!

here is the 'new to me' squareback:

and here is the the stance of the notch racer!

Strange Squareback Brian - small wheels one side, big the other! Not started messing it about already, have you?

the squareback is set up to run both 4x130 wheels and/or 4x100 wheels. this square was at the 06 invasion but was very rough then. it also has fog lamps up front now and the seats that were in the racer notch. oh... i added my really tall shifter in it now too.

well, we have fire in the race engine! took a bit of time to get the fuel to the carbs from the tank. UP HILL with all that rake and still the mechanical fuel pump seems to be a challenge. once everything is broke in, and i've tested the transmission, i'll get to adding the electric fuel pumps.
not only is the notch's 2110 running , but i drove the 68 Blue Squareback today too! It is now motivated (as of today) by the 1904cc from the notch. I have to add some seat belts and then the square will be my daily.

well, here are some pictures! I like the trim rings (needs different caps), the interior is temporary as I really wanted door panels and the 3 point seatbelts are installed. I added a driver's side mirror and add the missing trim after the pictures and tomorrow I will put a none vented oil filler tube on the engine, hide some wiring, add a tach and hook up the head temp sensor. then it is drive, drive, drive!

the blue bomb now has proper rear seatbelts (the old ones were tattered and had rust where chrome was suppose to be), so the kiddies can ride with their Pop to shows/school or where ever.

Great, Brian.

Not sure what's up but I just got a system request to approve vwfye as a member - it does seem to deactivate people from time to time - so I've approved it!

Makes sense!
Lucky you didn't move to gmail.com - that's on the banned list as I found about 40 of the daily spam registration attempts were using those e-mails. Existing members are OK - it seems to leave them alone, but new ones can't use it, unless I do some fiddling.

good night in the garage tonight for the race car... it is amazing how much easier it is to get stuff done with the car in a dry, well lit, place!

i bent the rear hard brake lines tonight and got them hooked up, then i drained the transmission and got the new gear oil in and finally, i got the oil filter mount placed.

friday is payday and i'll get some brake fluid, fittings and hoses to get the car to a point where i can drive down the block to check the ride height, brakes and gearing.

this thing is really starting to come around! it's only take 2 years Embarassed

on the 29th, the new to me turbo set up for the notch race car should arrive! then, i will figure out how to plumb in the n2o to use just as an intercooler. that means a 20 shot or smaller just after the carburetor. then, next year we will add a bigger turbo! woot :!:
