No joy... I apparently gave away the tie rod ends I had. Time to hunt for some.

Good to hear it was restored - I learned to drive on a Fjord blue Bug.

I was able to spend some time under the squareback before the sun got to the wrong side of the house. today's findings...
ight front functions... sort of. It doesn't completely release. despite bleeding, i can't get it to release completely. have to see if i still have a caliper in the stash.
also, the fuel pump body seems to be bleeding fuel up where the body screws together.
got the tie rod ends on and will static align it in the morning.
also, other than a 50 cent piece hole under the battery, the pan looks really good!

the stockish adventure continues...

Well,
the purple car is under carbed and under cammed to be an all out race car, but it does bracket will. But, I couldn't handle the lack of speed, so I have pulled and replaced the carbs, tweeked the fuel pressure, timing and am also going to a smaller tire for better launch... next run is in August.

If that doesn't work, I am putting the big engine in the car. I hate being slow!

Shame - we got over an inch of rain here on Saturday, which is not that normal, but it filled my water butts so when the ground dries out again Anne will be able to water the vegetables without getting the hose out! The grandchildren call her Grannie Annie - you would approve.

Ha-ha.

BTW, we can't cistern water here. It is illegal, according to the state of Oregon. Sooooo stupid!

Unbelievable - I had to look it up to check you weren't joking. Here if we can show that the rainwater falling on our property doesn't go into a sewer, we can get a (small) rebate on our sewerage charge!

Yesterday I went to move the purple car and the fuel pump failed. This is the same pump I installed in a hot parking lot in Wyoming while traveling to Missouri for an invasion.
Let me tell you, doing it in my driveway in the cool of the morning was much better!

I know it will make some mad, but for racing, this is easier to work on

Well, a Notch doesn't really have a rear luggage compartment anyway! Mind your fingers on that nasty fan-belt.

Okay..
, 2275cc, w125 cam, 1.25 rockers, 9.1:1 compression, 40x35 valves with a nice P&P, 44 fake IDFs w/38 venturies, 1.5 header, 009 dizzy. Hoping to make 115hp to the ground at a reasonable rpm. I was going to run the Dells, but I'm going to see if the 38 vents are a better choice for WOT. Mark Wolter built the LB for me. Originally it was going to be a 2180 with some limiting heads, so we went this route. I'm hoping it will be track ready for the Sept event.

The 2275 will not be ready for the track tomorrow. Just need to do some more things to it and am waiting on parts to arrive.

So, last evening, I finally showed the Speedster some love after a year of neglect. The heads, carbs, tins are all back on the engine. Wheels are back under the car and the battery went on the charger. Tonight, I will roll it out of the garage and fire it off! It's been tooooo long.

On the, "did that just happen" front, I sold the purple notchback last Saturday. It is a bittersweet end to my 13 year relationship with the car. I have found that I need to get down to a single project.
The 72 square is also going to go away.

It's like that old riddle, "What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, three legs in the evening, and no legs at night?" I guess there's a VW equivalent - I'm trying to downsize too!
