Build it as though there will not be a turbo added (other than the compression) and to the best quality possible. I don't believe in using 'turbo cams' or such. A well built engine is a well built engine, the turbo will just add to it.

The purple notch is headed to yet another incarnation of itself. The turbo is going back on, but the carb and draw though will now be EFI and blow through! I plan on this project taking me all the way into summer as I have very little time to devote to the garage right now. BUT! Once this is dialed in, I suspect I won't have to mess with it for years...

Happy New Year Brian, Shannon and the girls.
Any time you get to take a photo of the fleet, I'm sure we'd be interested to see them.
Dave.

I did start on the 1835cc engine for the 72 Notch today. I will have the bottom end buttoned up this evening after I go chase some RTV for the base of the cylidners.

Well, I am off the deep end. I just picked up two more turbochargers... Seems I have 2 more engine bays that have space for them  Things are getting interesting

The Blue Bomb is now in its new home... it was a sad day, but it had to be done. Tonight I am going to try and get the purple notch back on the road. It's been sitting patiently awaiting my coaching season to end.

Today was finally back to the car(s)! Mostly the Pink topless car. I got all the stuff for the engine mounted (Carbs, distributor, fuel lines, oil breather, belt, fuel pump). Everything was ready, so I stole the riding mower battery to see if it would at least crank and it did Thumbs Up I cranked until I saw oil pressure and could smell fuel and stopped. THen, I ran down to the FLAPS and picked up a battery and with a cheesy grin, I turned the key again with the coil hooked up and it jumped to life... sort of. It backfired hard through the muffler and then I saw it! I had the distributor installed with the traditional T3 location... but this is a type 1 engine! Spun it around and turned the key again tonight and it fired off without even hitting the pedal! I let out a whoop, turned off the key and shut the garage door tonight.
Tomorrow I will clean the multiple year's worth of dust/dirt off the car, time it, install the driver's seat again and then try and drive it back and forth on the parking pad to make sure I have brakes and gears. After that, I have to get the tags renewed (expired in 06) and then I'm ready for Graffiti Week here in Roseburg!

All in all, it was a great day!

the clutch slave cylinder is installed the old one is now fixed. Next up trying to find reverse with the cable shifter. I'm not sure if it is just sticking from lack of use, or if I need to make some adjustments. Also tonight, the throttle decided to stick so I will be figuring out what is going on. I believe it's an issue within the DTM shroud, I may just have to open up the guide hole a bit.

Just finished a legit test drive in the speedster... Really needs a tune. It idles great, but once on it, banging and popping! Yet, even with this much banging, the 2332 will put you in the back of your seat!

Looks like Gentian blue L51 B, but I doubt you're using a stock colour!

Funny - one of our members is using some make of tractor paint for his Texas yellow squareback - it's a reasonable match!

I could paint the car, hate it, repeat... several times for less than the cost of one gallon of any other paints.

Farmers the world over don't pay more than they need for anything! There's a farmer I know building a small wooden plane - I'm sure there will be more than one bit of baling twine in there somewhere!

Woot!!! The color sanding on the purple notch hood is done. While not an exact match in color, I actually like it better. As so, that will be probably be the new color for the car when I get ready for the respray as it needs it!

I didn't like the blue for the speedster, but it will work for the late notch!

Carbs are off of the purple notch, TBs are on. That was the easy part... now I have to run wires, fuel lines and then try and get it to fire and start working on tuning...

1 step forward, 27 back :embarrass: I finally got some tires for my 15x4 wheels (Christmas present). They are 155/65/15s and went and had them mounted today. By the time I got home, they were flat (2 piece wheels)... the silly cone didn't hold. So, I went back and no one in the area had tubes that fit the wheels with a TR13 valve stem size. So... out comes the wallet and on the phone with Coker. They have the tubes, but I won't see them for a week or so. Grrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really wanted to do the wheel swap today to see what has to change on the stance. CMS wheels the entire way around with a much shorter rear tire then before.

Tonight I am pulling the engine out to get busy on the EFI final install. Figure it will be easier to do everything with the engine out. My hope is to have everything hooked up before I head back to work on the 8th. Then I can get after tuning the EFI. Once that is all sorted, hopefully by spring break, the turbo can go back on.

You're probably lucky that the split rims leaked straight away and not on a drive away from home, Brian.

Yep Dave! I have tubes in the split rears...

Well, here are some pics of the progress so far... DCNFs off, EFI TBs on. Still need linkage installed, fuel line to carb lines added, injectors/rails mounted and all the wiring hooked up. Also need to mount the fuel pump better than the carb pump was mounted.

Had to weld both top cooling tins. Both have cracked from the back (rear is rear) to the rear mounting stud. Never had that happen before! Hmmmm....
