Noise when turning left means right hand side to be checked .With the car having being stood for a long time it's possible the grease has dried out

So today i greased up the front beam, all four nipples

I’ve also taken her out for 25 miles, she actually drives really well! I need to get a pro to set up the carbs 100%, but atleast it’s mobile at last.

I haven’t had time to look at the noise today properly, it only happens on hard left turns. It definitely sounds like disc, backing plate or bearing. As the discs are so pitted and need replacing anyway, i’ll tackle this when i change the discs over

I think that just confirms Broadys diagnosis, if they are like the type 4 it's a 15minute job

wheel bearings need adjustment. theyre look loose which lets the disc wander about and its hitting the caliper is my guess.

How are you getting on? Did the fuel cut offs make ant difference? Did you have any joy adjusting the wheel bearings? Its a nuce easy job, the only fiddle is popping the clip off the speedo cable

I haven't had a chance to deal with the bearings or connect the fuel cut off solenoids as of yet as i've been busy with getting things organised for my Grandad's funeral and also revising towards taking an exam as part of my job. To top it off my daily mk4 golf went into limp mode and kept cutting out so any spare time i've had has been spent on getting that sorted. i replaced the crankshaft position sensor and serviced it after reading the fault codes and i think that's back on the road so we should have plenty of spare time coming up for the Type 3!

I have however taken her out a couple of times, and she's running nicely. I still need the carbs setup professionally though as either the fuel gauge is dodgy or it drinks petrol like a fish!

I'd like to get the front and rear wings off to inspect for rust behind them. Does anyone know how to go about this? i'm assuming they're just bolted into place but i'd just like pointers in case there are any hidden bolts etc

thanks all

Ah yes of course. Car is very much second piority. Have you set the carbs up as per the little booklet sent over earlier in the thread? Whats making you think they need more set up work?

Have you managed to spend any more time getting the type 3 sorted, or are you still in the midst of exams and other personal matters ?
