1967 VW Variant
Re: 1967 VW Variant
Once all the bulkhead areas were ready to trial fit the inner sparewheel panel , and the front clip, I motored on. Once i was happy with the fit up, it was time for the welder, and crossed fingers that all would work. Considering I had to make one of the fuel tank/suspension mount sections, I knew it might be tricky at this stage. Happy days, I just have a bit of final welding, and thats a big job out of the way.

That's a fine bit of work. It's a shame the car wasn't as sound as you thought, but it's coming on nicely and well worth doing.

Thanks lads.
Yeah it turns out the car is rattier than i thought. I had some thoughts on scrapping it, and then i thought, to hell with it, i'll carry on and save it. Then mosied on for a few weeks, and discovered both heater channels needed replacing, along with work when i took off the rear wing. Had another scrappie moment, and thought................oh dammit, a bottle of gas and another roll of mig wire, and as the chief in "The outlaw Josey Wales " said we must endeavour to persevere....So I kept going.
New heater channel made and installed on the r/h side
Inner and outer
Test fit the newly made components

Its refreshing to know that there are other vw enthusiasts every bit as mad as me when it comes to saving a rusty old type 3. We always save them no matter what
