My 71 fasty...... 'The Plan'
My 71 fasty...... 'The Plan'
Ok, so... in June 2008 I swapped a 73 tax ex beetle for this fasty.... it was/is solid. Paint work was pretty bad so I begun trying to bottom out all the microblisters!!!
Managed to get the front end and roof done before the bad weather set in (I work on my drive) and will try to get the doors and rear wings done soon... although I may just start again and paint it blue instead
Anyway....
When I got it....
I found some bumpers for it and tidied it up best I could with no cash...
Then i decided I was gonna lower it a lot and this was/is the plan...

First job in the lowering was to fit some stock, skinny wheels....
Which changed the look to this...
Then after a few hours work on my own a couple of days ago, I now have this....
Just waiting for some Specific BugPack Rear Shocks to arrive from SSP and it should drive as sweet as anything.... the shocks were bottoming on every bump so it's laid up on my drive for a couple of days until they are fitted... can't wait to drive it again... low.....
Hoping it will be ok. I'll post up progress as I go... gonna be prepping for paint over the next few weeks... if I get chance![/i]

You say 6-8mm thick???
that looks more like 1-2mm to me way to thin and to be honest my 6 year old daughter could weld better than that.
My guess is that the MOT guy will have a thing or two to say about it as well.
A word of advice cut them back off and get some shorter shocks before you have a very bad accident.
