1971 auto squarebck project started

heres my new project shes a 1971 tax exempt with loads of history
she has new bonnet and front wings what i didnt realise he previous owner called me back to his house as he also had new rear wings and two new doors already sprayed in old english white ready for fitting along with new bumpers
drove it back yesterday and it diddnt miss a beat nor did the gearbox
work starts tomorrow total resto

are the wheels the same as beetles?

wheels are the same size,but unfortunately a different offset

darn as i dont know much about t3 is there anything i should know before i get stuck in?i know im going to need exhaust at some point any ideas

Best advice is to dismantle not cut off, and don't throw anything away until you've got a better replacement! A lot of body parts and fittings are specific to Type 3s, and you can't walk into a Beetle restoration company and expect much more than engine parts and a few bits of running gear, though the things that wear out are usually still available.

The outer panels can all be changed, and the inner panels behind can be fabricated fairly easily to repair rusted areas.

As you get to a problem, ask here and it shall be answered!

cheers jmarkha1 ive driven it about 6 miles scared me a bit as lights were so dim but was fun and the cars older than myself
i have as said earlier all the replacement panels but im having trouble finding a new exhaust system
