Just double check the wheelbolt size chaps! I'd expect a modern vw to be 17mm, but the Fasty will be 19mm

Might avoid you both wasting money on postage!

GT beetle wheels had plastic caps on the 19mm bolts though

Or.. Fasty had centrelines on when I bought her, so in one of my sheds there's a set of chrome/shiny wheel bolts which could easily find themselves heading in Your direction

Its been quite a while hasnt it. Ive been working on quite a few other projects in the mean time. Thought a few jobs have gone on with the fasty. I cleaned out the lug holes in the wheels, which I should have masked off before painting. Then have some tyres fitted. This is mainly to see how things look with these sizes and workout where I want to go. I have some ideas. But here it is before black bolts and polished centres. Lots of work to do aligning panels. But as ive got some new panels on the way I wont be worrying too much yet.

Managed to get the ole bus out for a run this week. Nice to see the wheels on from a distance. I got the centre caps out the loft last weekend, so ill start polishing them. And im looking at getting a kit so I can black anodise the wheel bolts.

And its got me motivated to start chipping away at the job list. Ive been playing with the wing mirrors today. Ive got 5, of varying style and condition. So im trying to make a good pair.

Not the most sexy surroundings.

Only the second run out this year! Got 41 miles on, and found a few issues from winter, so a few jobs to do in the evenings. That red rocket is the actaul bit of kit from traffalga square when the thunderbirds film launched. And we have given it some titivation a time or two in the last 10 years.

I've still got my originals from the 60s, along with all my Captain Scarlet toys. Unfortunately they're not still boxed or I'd be able to retire.

Looks good broady. What mirrors you thinking of? I am still looking had a mis match pair on mine. Passenger side one can't see anything out of and was poorly fitted 😠

Looking good. Are you going to put chrome strips on it or leave it dechromed?

Looks quite good as it is.

Standard mirrors, when I said style. I meant through the years of type 3. Rather than custom style. I think one of the mirrors is actaully from a type 4. But im getting there. Once ive sorted myself, ill see if anything ive got left helps you make up a decent pair?

I am planning to put the chrome sill strips on. But it wont be having the ones on the swage line. I must also get around to fitting the jackin hold blanks!

And here is the other T3 in the shot.

I hope that in the next month or so, ill have a fun bit of news for you all.

When are you putting the other T3 into the bodyshop, I thought so on the earlier picture, but now with the full image I'm quite sure that's not the right colour

Unless the modern film decided the colours should be more primary for the benefit of todays audience

The 3 is not aligned properly either

Image

Yeah, you should put the sill covers on, do you know where they are ?

It was red in the modern film. I made the same comment when I started working there. As this was commisioned by the people who made the film, we did some reaerch and found out it is true to the modern film. Not the original cartoon. I wouldnt worry about the number alignment. Those photos at 6 years old at best, Its largely been stripped and repainted since then. We had planned to finish the resto this year. But an unamed pointless virus has put a stop to that.

Its just two chrome strips for the sills. Rather than covers. Ill get around to it. Unfrotunately life is bussiser than ever. Not only am I still going to work every day. I now have to waste 1 evening a week going shopping because gettting a home delivery slot this side of September is impossible. Even for those of us who have been loyal enough to use the service for years! And im not a key worker either, so i just get @'*t all over. I dont get paid 80% to toss it off for a couple of months and no perks from still going to work. But its ok, you can all thank me in a few months for continuing to put money into the economy and helping to keep "non essential" business going :D :D

Oh, I'm sorry Broady I really can't let that one go. The original series was not a cartoon, it was Supermarionation, puppets on strings, not involving Sandie Shaw.

If you have ever watched Stargate this particular segment, as a tribute to Thunderbirds, has a hilarious ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9XrrEaZ7Y4

Now, the big question is, are you also working on Lady Penelope's car ?

 for doing your bit to keep the economy going and continuing to pay taxes. Smaller stores like Aldi tend not to have the Pleb restrictions of the larger stores if that helps.

By sill covers I of course meant the torsion bar covers

In fairness, I may be out of bed at that time in the morning. But I dont wake up until about half 9.

Aldi/lidl dont usually have some of the more obscure products we need unfrotunately. But I have good news. Last night there was no wait to get in to tesco. And they have increased the number of people allowed in their store.

B n Q are reoprning. JLR, Aston Martin and other have annouced they will be back manufacturing in a few weeks. With a few other bits ive seen, We can be sure the thin end of the wedge is in and were on the way out!

Yes I have them, they were painted at the time of the car. They just need a polish before fitting. I will get there :D
