French Type 3

Post by Editor » 26th October 2005 - 12:24pm

Hi Thierry,
Where in France are you? Have you been to any of the European meetings - Budel, or the German club maybe?

Some of us go to the European meetings; it would be nice to meet up.
Dave.

Hi
I'm in the south of France, near from Montpellier, I have my T3 since sunday!! it's very new for me . it's a great car !
I went to the Nat's in may but I have a T2 panelvan, I'll make the nat's 2006 and perhaps spa 2006 .
In France, the club is very small, in england it's better for the T3 owners!
I 'm enjoy to read the post of your (our) forum, I 'don't understand all, but the essence .
Thierry

French Type 3 Scene

Post by Editor » 27th October 2005 - 1:17pm

That's quite a drive from Calais - I went down there with a group of children to a watersports holiday some years ago, near le Cap d'Agde. It was a good holiday, apart from getting some muscle damage in a slide at Aqualand.

The most memorable thing was finding some VW keys for a Beetle and a Golf in the sea when snorkelling, which I later returned to their owner through the local VW club!

I think some of the English Type 3s go to Spa, but I haven't been.

Keys returned

Post by Editor » 29th October 2005 - 9:32pm

Yes, very kuel. He was very pleased to get them back - they were the genuine original keys, not copies. Two for a '67 Beetle and one for a Golf GTi.
I was pleased to get them back to him as well - I bet my colleagues that we (the VW enthusiasts) could find the owner, so that was satisfying.
I also got a 100FF (£10) reward for their return, and the letter I wrote to VW Motoring describing the episode got me a star letter prize of £100 of GSF vouchers. I had to spend it on VW stuff, rather than scuba gear though!

I have the biggest insurance but I didn't make the value whit an expert. I made a BIG file whit picture and description of plenty of T3 , rusty or restorated all around the world because the T3 scene is in the beginning in France !
the expert estimate the value of my car at 9000 € the day of the crash but at the end of the body work with a new paint and all of the accessories ....

I 'm happy to have a little bit of England on my car , this wheels are very beautiful .

I change the rear tyres cause the 175/70/15 was to big for my fenders !! the rear cosmics are in 6", I put the 165/15 on it , it's perfect !
on the front , I have 2 165/65/15 on 5,5" wheels

"Variant(e) sportive" - are all cars female in France, Thierry? L'auto isn't but la voiture is! I'm puzzled.
