Type 34 Ghia resto...

Post by Tris. » 4th September 2010 - 9:07am

I've owned a Razor for around 15 yrs now, its been sat in a lock up for the last 10  After previously having a botched restoration and an elderly guy driving down the side of it, followed by
more botched repairs I lost intrest so it went into storage.
Anyhows I decided to get it back home recently to see just how it had faired the last decade...

The pics do make it look nicer than it actualy is. Theres rust in the usual places and a huge amount of filler (upto an inch thick in places!) Some repairs have been made using Silver tape, painted with bitchumin (sp?) and painted over :x

I'm not doing any of the body work or paint, I have neither the space or the skills to do it, so in November its off to Alex @ Defcon 3 to work his magic on it.
He loves his type 3's and also has a '64 Razor, so atleast he has something to go buy... He estimates it'll take around 300 hours to repair the metal work on the car

But I am doing all the stripping down, overhauling all the mechanicals and renewing the interior etc etc. (so its not quite a cheque book resto) I've never restored a car before, so it'll be real slow progress. Hopefully it'll be finished in around 18 months.

Progress so far.. Rear lights and front bumper removed
