New Razor project
New Razor project
I've got me a new Razor project , its a '63 (just) had it been built 14 cars earlier it would have been a first year model, but hey ho..
It was imported from the usa a fair few years ago, and the restoration was started, most of the body work has been done, needs some more work to get it right, but it is by far a better
basis for resto than my '66.
Heres some pics, I'm sure you will be able to spot the car hidden away
Should be picking the car up end of January, then the fun can begin

I'd love ones of these too but for now I'll stick with my Type 4s.
Is the '66 going to become a donor for this one?

Yeah I'm a happy fella Paul, agree about my other, I've had it the best part of 15yrs now, will be a shame to see it go.barndoor deluxe wrote:well done Tris ..glad you sorted out a deal ...seems a shame your other ones gonna get chopped though .Kats dream care these.......i have promised her one....one day

well, its a bit of a nightmare working out what comes with this one, parts are boxed up everywhere, I'm pretty confident most of it is there... I doubt I will use much if anything from the '66, mainly as I plan to restore the car back to stock.shawn71 wrote:I'd love ones of these too but for now I'll stick with my Type 4s.

It would appear the car was originally pacific blue, I don't personally like that colour, so I do plan changing it to another period correct vw one, maybe anthracite grey... I do plan to give the car a little tickling of the lowering stick, (or maybe a hard thrashing) and I was planning to change the wheels, but can't decide what to go for, maybe the key to being different is to stay stock I think thats what I'll do...
so most of the '66 parts wouldn't be right for this car, so hopefully that one will be available pretty much complete (it is now a rolling shell)

Re: New Razor project
KGs had their own colour ranges. They may not have included Anthracite as that was available on main range VWs, but you should be able to check that.

According to the Type34 registry, the car was Manilla Yellow/Black roof...

Re: New Razor project
I think he's ok Tris..It makes a huge difference that he knows its gone to a good home,& we kept him busy all afternoon!Empty space is now a full space
Re: New Razor project
Sorry to miss out - cutting chunks of tree down, and so involved it slipped my mind.
Dave.
Re: New Razor project
Hi Tris, good luck with the new project and glad to see Derek's car has gone to a good new home. I like your last post, nice touch.
I'm also embarking on the restoration of my own type 34. Having had the car since 1986, its been on the road (just) for most of my ownership, including sitting on a type 3 & 4 stand years ago as a frog on a lily pad, Jane Terry may recall! Five years ago, Fritz came off the road, family, work, shortage of time, the same old story, but now it is full steam ahead to get the car on the road and off to Germany for the 50th celebration!
Mechanically ungifted, i am aiming to create a solid car, as close to original as i and my skills, budget of time and cash can muster. Compared with 1986, it is amazing how much more help is available; spo you can expect to see me avidly watching your restoration from afar.
Seeing your location made me smile as i purchased my car in Chicester, it having been originally ben supplied i seem to recall from the VW agent in either Poole or Bournemouth.
If i can help, drop me a line
Best Wishes
Graham
