Think I'm new here...

Post by Jimmy Filth » 12th December 2010 - 10:24pm

I think I may have joined this forum a few years back, but as I can't remember any sign in info I thought I'd rejoin.

I bought my '72 Fastback about 3 or 4 years ago with the intention of doing it up. I took it off the road and started work on it, but this ground to a halt due to finding a lot more rust than I was expecting. None of this was structural, but was more than I was able to sort out myself. Most of the rust was hidden behind body panels and the front passenger wing. I then bought a few replacement panels and put it into a bodyshop. Money then ran out and it was standing for the last year with not much happening. I'm getting it back this week with the four wings off, a running engine and all the mechanics sorted. I need to spray the new panels, get underneath it and get that sorted using steel brushes, jenolite and hammerite... Well, whatever I need to sort it. I will then get the panels back on with all new beading and get the car MOT'd, insured, taxed and on the road ready for the slightly warmer days of 2011.

So, here are some pics of it, parked up next to my mates one and on it's own,

It may not be to everyones taste, but it is now sitting a lot lower on steel wheels. I plan to get the early front bumper fitted, along with an early steering wheel. I don't want to change anything on the car that can't be changed back easily.

Wish me luck

Thanks for all the welcomes and comments. I want to relocate the modern headunit in the glovebox, and also get new door cards and hide the speakers somewhere.

Really can't wait to get her back on the road again.
