And there's me thinking you'd got a pretty clean one! Was just looking up in my arches last night actually, pretty good up there but going to get wheels off and rub down/seal them all up at weekend.
Re: My 1973 fast back
Floor pan wise she's solid, when I'm finished she will be all water tight gonna try and keep in the same colour, this is from years of some one plonking on under seal, check under the bonnet where the front wings mount body, mind you yours has had the wings done

Re: My 1973 fast back
At least your airbox looks good, I'm dreading seeing what lurks in mine (it's started to rot a little at the top).
Re: My 1973 fast back
Catch it while it's not too bad! If you cut off the top with a thin blade you can probably repair the lid from the back and sort out the corrosion in the box, then weld the lid back on with a few tacks and fill the saw cut and paint. Tthat way you can easily get back in later if/when needed.

Re: My 1973 fast back
The thing is when I bought this car I traveled a whole Sunday to purchase it looked over and under and looked good it wasn't until I was looking at the wings and poked me finger right under the bowl oooops I said to the person I was buying it off so then I knew that this would be a problem peeked inside sat down an then that was the moment r buy it drove her home and said to the wife it' only needs a little work lol I'm trying my hardest to get it done for volksworld but it's the prep that takes the time and still hunting for a wing with no joy I'm not happy using the old one it doesn't feel right (light) in weight

Re: My 1973 fast back
Rust makes them heavier!
Original wi gs were smothered with thick sealant. Replacement or cleaned wings may not have more than a thin coat of underseal.
It's surprising how much they accept filler - they don't flex much, and aren't structural! However, doing it once properly is better than repeating rectification year after year.

Trying to picture how that will look. Not sure how many mine is down but I suspect more than that as it's rather low lol don't have clearance issues since taking front tow bracket off beam though.serenity wrote:Thanks buddy gonna go two splines on the front it's looking like a speed boat lol
