My first T3

I used to have a '68 Beetle but sold it and picked up a '70 SB. This is my winter project for this year.

well some of my fellow club members came over today and we separated the body from the pan and the body is now sitting up on some horses.

The pan is in surprisingly good condition and other than the rusted out battery area it just needs some wire brushing and a good coat of paint.

The body, that's another story. Mainly the front part of the heater channels and under the rear side windows are the worst but heater channels are always a pain in the arse.

I will take some pictures tomorrow and get them posted.

Have a safe and Happy New Year.

I sent the body, rear fenders, hood, and front fascia off to the sand blaster about a month ago and yesterday we finally had a dry day (we have had a lot of snowy days in the Chicago area lately) and I picked the parts up.

They look good and the body isn't tooooo bad :)

Here are some pictures for you:

As you say, Mark, there's a lot of metal still there.

Is that an all-over white etch prime, or just how the blasting left it?

That is how the blasting left it. I'm not sure what exactly he used as a media but it look like very fine glass beads.
