I like the red one a lot, very nice.
I'm not that far from you in Kent. I'm hoping to put together a deal at the moment to buy a freshly restored early style fastback. Can't wait to get into Type 3's, but I'm definately going for a Notchback eventually. Seeing those pics just reinforces that!
Cool cars.
Cheers,
G.

Thanks
Hi thanks for the kind word's, do you know about the other VW clubs in the Kent area? theres Hazzard who meet at an American diner just outside Ashford on first wed of month and the other is Kentish VW club who meet at the Park gate inn not far from Leeds castle just outside Maidstone on first thurs of month. I go along to both, in these cold winter months I go in my Type 25, maybe see ya there? good luck with the Fastback.
Der Panzer Paint Scrapers meet in kent, not too sure where but follow this.

Hiya,
Yes, I've heard there are a few clubs around - VW's seem really well catered for on the club side of things. I'd like to get along to some meetings and check out some Type's 3 close up. There was a nice Squareback on Post Street in San Francsico that I walked past every day - really wanted to hang around and have a closer look but it was on the outskirts of the Tenderloin and I didn't really want to attract attention to me being a tourist!
Cheers for now,
Graham.

Hi Graham, I see your ad in Ultra VW mag have you had many offers of cars or is the above mentioned one the only one youve had?
Do you know reg no. or whos car you was offered?
As for my car a second hand starter motor was fitted on Saturday, but still wont start, it turns over, but wont catch,
I gotta get a recovery truck and get it sent to my Dads place in Sussex so he can work on it,
Are you going up to Stanford on Sunday?
Danny.

Hiya Danny,
Nah, fraid I can't make it to Stanford (no car plus I may be going somewhere Sunday).
The offer I had was the only one I've had so far and I'm not really that surprised. Although I know people who have [somehow been lucky enough to] find an OK car for that money, it is quite rare. I've found a late Fastback that's a possibilty and I'm trying to work out the logistics of how to buy a '59 Bug and bring it back from Peterborough. I have no transport so I've have to get the train up there just to look at it and it's an £84 return journey to Peterborough! And then I've got to get it paid for (preferably without going back up there) and trailored back and running and.......... Man, I love cars but what a headache.
The reg. of the car I was offered is KGF 881A. I'm going to email him in a minute and let him know that it's a bit too much work for me. I always try to give an answer even if the car isn't for me - just seems like a decent thing to do rather than not bother!
Cheers for now and have fun at the weekend,
G.

Good work.
Put simply, track rods join the steering to the wheels, and the track-rod ends are the ball-joints that allow change of angle of the joint. The only track-rod end that's a problem to get is the short one at the steering box end, as that's Type 3 only. The others are same as the equivalent year Beetle (not SuperBeetle). If the car is lowered things may be a bit different - I think the angled one is not so critical then, but you'd need info from someone who has done it.

Hi Mr DONG,DONG wrote:What kind of wheel is that? It looks really cool! Thanks.
The wheel's are made by a company called (now I always spell this wrong) Kronprinz in Germany.
not sure if they were sold Worldwide or not, I have seen a few sets in Europe, but no others here in the U.K, they kinda look a cross between a GT Beetle wheel and a Sprint star,
I bought these about 6-7 years ago at VW Euro in the Netherlands, for €30
Here's a late model Notch I saw at Budel VW show again in the Netherlands this year, Notch and wheels put mine to shame he has the wrong centre cap's on his. Although wrong cap's are better than no cap's.
Saw pics of your new'66 Fasty very nice

Well, I like that wheels so much. It is very unique. Thanks for the comment on my '66 Fasty. I call her Sharky 2. I recently intalled the ragtop. I like her that way. My ther Fasty is a '70 model called Sharky 1 that figured out in an accident. It so sad to realize what happened to Sharky 1.Danny Lord wrote:Hi Mr DONG,DONG wrote:What kind of wheel is that?
