1971 Fuel Injection Fastback

Post by Type3Diva » 24th June 2018 - 7:44pm

It’s time to say goodbye to my 1971 type 3 fastback
fuel injection 1600

Mileage: 81558

I have owned this car for over 10 years.

It has been magazine featured in Volksworld Magazine 2006 and Classic monthly 2005.

- In 2017 it was lowered two splines all around.
- Previous to it being owned by myself it received a bare metal respray.
- The car is in original condition other than the respray.
- The car has been reliable and has travelled to European shows and has never let me down.
- It has been well maintained and has been garaged throughout the time I have owned it.

There is some ageing as listed below
- Some small bubble on the paint along the passenger side at the rear of the roof.
- A paint bubble on the passengers side front wing at the bottom and the corner of the door.
- Rusting on the bottom sill of the drivers door. Not noticeable on the outside.
-There is some corrosion (non structural) where the brake fluid has once leaked.

I have bought an early squareback which is the only reason for me selling. I’m happy to provide further pictures.

£7500 or near offer

Hi

This car has just had a fuel pump rebuild and new fuel lines. See below list of works and checks completed.
(Fuel pump rebuilt by Jim Adney in the states)

Car Checks that have also been carried out prior to pump rebuild were
- Head torques/ tappets/ etc checked
- Checked and charged battery.
- Checked connections at fuse box/ battery/dynamo and regulator etc.
- Checked coil and wiring.
- Checked sensors/connections and multi plugs etc.
-Tested relays.
- Replace cap/rotor/points and condenser.
- Force feed fuel and get up and running. Check fuel pump wiring/ ECU wiring etc.
- Check fuel supply and return at tank.
- Replace fuel filter (customer supplied). Supply and fit reducer in order to fit filter.
- Refit reconditioned fuel pump.
- Repair connections at fuel pump feed/earth. Replace all fuel hoses/T-piece and clips throughout vehicle. Repair air filter elbow. Clean and gap plugs.
- Bleed fuel system and check fuel pressure. Check fuel system for leaks etc. Check and top up oil level. Run up.
- Check and adjust V-belt tension. Check/set dwell/ idle/timing etc. Check lights/wash/wipe horn etc.
- Removed master cylinder wiring and cover plate and test brake light wiring etc.
- Trace non working brake lights to one non operative brake light switch and one broken brake light switch. Replaced both switches and test individually and in series. Secure battery and terminals/covers
- Check levels/ settings/ fuel system etc. Test driven twice.

This car is ready to run and looking for a new owner :-)
