Dutch 1966 squareback deLuxe
This is how my wife bought the car in Januari 2004.
Solid, but not complete .. all the fenders, doors, hood, bumpers, trim and engine where missing.
My luck was that over the years I collected all these parts (NOS) for another 66squareback, witch is now sold.
Original a Dutch registrated car, and my goal is to have it on the road before April 1, 2006.
"All" I have to do is push it trought the paintshop, and put it back together again
(car in front of the trailer is my daily driven 1977 T2b with fuel injected -enginecode GD- type4 engine)
Have the option to mount different wheels (16" Fuchs, 16" Carrera2, 15" GT's), but most chances are that these Cosmics are
going under the square !!

Welcome to the Forum.
Simple enough looking project - new this, new that, new other....
At times like these, you realise just how good it is that the whole outside of the car unbolts, and you can do the hidden repairs to an acceptable standard even if proper repair panels aren't available.
Will this make it to Wolfsburg for June 2006 ? I hope mine will be looking tidier by then.
Dave.

Spoke with Danny last thursday on the BBT party.
My project is on hold, but i hope to finish it this winter
In the meantime we did a type4/IRS/Porsche wheel conversion on a friends notchback.

The wheels on the notch are Porsche Cayenne 7,5 x 17.kls wrote:the cosmics would look cool , the notch is nice too, what size are those wheels on it, any rubbing issues??
At the front we had them narrowed to 6,25 x 17 with a 165/40 Nankang, at the rear they measure 7,5 x17 with a 215/35 tyre.
Front brakes are 993 disc's (312mm) with 996 Turbo rear calipers on home made hubs, at the rear there's a Kerscher setup.
Gearbox is 1303S with drive shafts and IRS from a 1969 notch and a cupstrebe.
We also modified a 4 into 1 Ahnendorp stainless steel header to go with the standard type4 cooling thinware.

Yes, it's a standard 2L bus engine (code CU) only mods are a Bosch 009, Weber 40 IDF carb's and the reworked Ahnendorp exhaust.kls wrote:notch is very nice, is it a standard 2litre engine?
Drivers very smooth and in combination with the beetle 1303S gearbox it's the ultimate cruizer for long distances.
on topic; the engine for my wife's square will be a Porsche 1700 type4 with injection.
Just bought some NOS 412 headers because my wife wants to drive with a proper heating system.
At the moment, the Cosmics are in the shop of a friend of mine to get polishted and some new black paint.
