Haven't a clue...... It's not finished yet. I'm hoping to get the engine running next weekend. I've still got lots of annoying fiddly bits to finish on the engine. But I'm sorting the exhast this weekend and the wiring is getting done next weekend.

The engine is producing around 250bhp, it's a wrx imported engine with STI ecu, turbo and kind of exhaust too.

However it's all in the gearbox which is a Porsche 915 5speed. Although I dunno what the ratios are as I haven't bothered to look yet. It does have a Quaiff atb limited slip diff fitted though.

One of the drag racers with his big Tyres has the same engine, ecu, turbo and that was doing 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, I think his 1/4mile time was well in the 11second mark.

I dont have the Tyres and neither the technique but it's a comparison to work with. I'm not expecting to be as fast as a drag car but it'll be quick never the less.

Erm...... well....... its taken a little longer then expected and it isn't finished yet by a long shot..... but at least the engine is running sweater then it did in the Impreza :finger:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM9fq9AMCwY

Its running better now then in the video, as the ECU has mapped itself much better by me letting it idle up to temperature with forcing the throttle open and winding the turbo up

On the to do lists is

Sort Hydraulic clutch out = looking at $250 for a Porsche clutch release arm
Bleed Brakes
Tidy up wiring for engine
Make custom Dash up
stop water leaks and eventually fit a cheap carpet set

Easy peasy

Sorry, I don't get on here much. I'm usually over on VWKD.

Over the winter the car hasn't been running as I wanted to shorten the wiring loom and tidy the engine bay up. I've got this all sorted now and I'm real happy with the way it's all come out.

I managed to spend a small fortune on completing my hydraulic clutch set up with the 915 box. The Saco kit I bought was absolute crap and does not fit a type three. Any how spent ages making my own kit and its all working now, the only problem I have is I used a 3mm hydraulic line from to back which isnt moving enough fluid resulting in a firm peddle. In the future I have every intention of installing a larger line but it'll do for now.

I fried my ECU which has given me a couple of nights of probing the engine electric trying to discover what was wrong. Everything was pointing to the ecu so I took a £100 gamble and ordered another which appears to have sorted my problem.

Now I can adjust the gear linkage and begin work on my interior and create a custom dash with all the gauges I have to install.

Brakes have been bled and the car is on it's reassembly stage.

This will be the year it return to the road which I'm certainly looking forward too.

Righto, thought I would drag this old thread back up cause I know you all hate it.

Got me a 12 month ticket of fun. Only cost me £380 to insure with the engine and other mods declared. Well having driven it on the road it's certainly an experience, challenge is better of a word

Had teething problem with running it without the vehicle speed sensor, fitted that after interogating the ecu, just haven't had it out of the garage yet as I'm in the process of fitting a proper heater to it. Takes 16miles for the ecu to learn and tell you what it wants before the safety fuel cut kicks in stopping the fun and the turbo.

Clutch is horrible and will need a rethink, as is the gearbox which will need a rebuild. But its drivable and these issues won't be stopping me from taking it out to the shows this years. But the steamed windows is a massive pain.

Grounded the sump on its maiden voyage when the turbo kicked in dodgy path and WAY to much boost. Fun fun. Left a nice trail of oil back to the workshop.

I've only got pictures of it at my wedding so I'll post those up for you all shortly.

Now that is annoying. I'm prepared to accept there are people who like to butcher their Type 3, but making me look at that front engined thing.... You really must want to be hated. :ninja:

You should do it, Dare to be different.

Thank you very much sir for your comments, the kind ones always go down well lol.

I'm gonna drag it outta the garage tomorrow and get the tracking measured and see what need doing to that. Shouldn't be too bad. But anyway I'll most probably get some footage of it over the weekend to share with everyone. I'll seven bring out the camera and get a decent video of it on that instead of my shite phone.

Went curb crawling on Friday night, managed 50miles of fun driving in it. Gearbox is definetly sounding tired. Has that rally straight cut gear sounding to it but doesnt feel like right. By the end of the night I was getting an engine stutter at 3.5K rpm just before the boost hits in and hard. Stutter continued into Saturday and then the engine dies on the dual caurage way. Recalling a strange noise the evening before coming from the fuel pump I figured the pump had given up. Then thinking about it my fuel gauge hasn't moved since December so I got out the 5liters of emergency fuel and stuck that in it. Popped into life like nothing had happened and my hesitation has dissappeared. Looks like I'm getting 130miles out of a tank, that's spirited driving too

130 redline miles out of what 40 litres, I don't think that's too bad. I would drive it easier bits it's an awesome feeling/sensation when you change gear at 7K for the 5time.

The heater is awesome too. No more steamy windows!!

Things to work towards,

Tracking and wheel alignment
New fuel tank, gonna get a custom stainless steel/ Aluminium one made.
Bleed brakes again
Make another attempt at my hydraulic clutch
Gearbox rebuild

Clearly not up dated this in a while. Done lots since my last post.

Ditched the pedal for a new floor mounted pedal box.

Image

Refurbished the floor pans in the inside

Image

New airbox with proper cold air feed this time round. Gonna get the Ali pipe anodised as I don't like it.

Image

New shoes, Audi rs2 cup 2's I think they are. Genuine ones though and brand spanking new.

Image

New dashboard, spent ages on this, not happy with it but its acceptable, had enough of filling and sanding and filling and sanding and filling and sanding and filling and sanding. Looks better in the flesh.

Had the tracking sorted, made for a huge difference haha.

Image

New charge cooler radiator. This is the old (bottom one) verses the new (top)

Image

Currently I'm having a go at the interior and fitting a stereo and center console.

Image

Had the car at Stanford hall last year too,

As it rest today. Note for those concern the wing mirrors are now gloss black

Image

So ill sort the stereo and centre console, got some sounds deadening to lay down, cut the new carpets for it. Needs new door cards all round, would like to buy new ones but if I can't get those then ill settle for some Ali sheet I've got sitting around and polish it. Plenty more in the pipeline just not enough time to get on with it.
