Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I bought one of these and am really impressed.
It fits a type 3 perfectly.
Is nice and heavy - with thick soft lining and totally waterproof.
I was a bit skeptical when I bought it but everyone that sees it remarks on the quality - for less than 40 quid - a bargain.
I do not sell these BTW - cheers.

The above look's like a good price. I found this cover when researching the same:

I haven't bought one though so can't comment on quality, fit, etc.

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
Mike - the cover covers entire car and fits quite tight at bottom edge - probably about 5 inches off ground all round.
You could wrap something around car to stop the cover being taken off / blowing off - but I doubt very much it would blow off without serious storm - Jake

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
Thanks for letting me know Jake.
I don't know if its just where I live, but I really struggle with keeping these covers on.
The one I have at the moment fastens tightly with an adjustable webbing strap right under the middle of the car.
Most days if its been remotely "breezy" I find it over the front of the car, the strap having worked its way right to the front wheels and trapped up in the wheel arches somewhere - of course it always does this before it rains...
The cover before (no strap, but fairly tailored like you describe) spent more time in the neighbours gardens than it ever did on a car!
That one would work its way out from under anything I tried to wrap round it to hols it down...
A shame because otherwise it sounds like its a good cover.
Thanks again.

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I always had that problem mike! And I bought the mid range halfords one. In the end it tore its self to bits and never kept the car dry

Doesn't sound promising. Get quite a lot of wind through gap between houses on our driveway

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
Ive got the coverzone top spec, "stormforce" I think it is, car is always bone dry underneath. The straps could do to be stronger, in the 80mph+ winds we had in feb one of the clips broke. They're the same style as the ones on a back pack. I just put a ratchet strap around the car to hold the cover on and I've had no problems since.
Be a wear all covers will starch paint work unless the car is perfectly clean with a generous coating of wax. and even then you can guarantee its safe!

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I bought a Halfords cover, its actually really good. THREE straps! so it never came off even in the worst of the gales we had this winter and so far it appears to be very water tight.
I bought the large, its quite roomy for my Fastback so I think it would fit a square, although there was an extra large available.
I've not noticed any rub marks on the paint, with all three straps quite tight it doesn't move at all.

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I bought one like this on ebay for my 412 variant
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Van-cover ... 778wt_1037
If anything it's a little oversize.
Mine has a passenger side door zip which allows you to open the car door to get in without having to completely remove the cover. I then had to buy some rubber grommets so that I could fit two bungee cords underneath the car which stops the wind getting under and lifting the cover off.

As I've always let the rain wash it I don't think I'm qualified to advise.

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I bought the halfords large one in the end- as mike reccomended
It fits the square a treat and when I don't put it on inside out it seems to work well

Re: Type 3 Variant Car Cover Recomendation
I got one from ISPWest. It's the same make and material as the Evo 4 covers that Karmen Konnection sell for Type 2's.
I've used one of those on my bus for 4 years and it's brilliant.
It wasn't cheap by the time I paid for shipping and Vat....about £100 all in but I know how good they are and well worth the investment.
