Hi guys,
I've been searching for a long time for the right type 3 and I may have found one. What are the main danger spots? Inner wings I know, but how do you know if you've got a rust bucket short of taking the wings off? Any other areas? On the beetles it was battery trays, heater channels and spare wheel well.
Is it similar on the fastbacks? Thanks for your help.

Re: Danger spots
ok, all of the areas You've already mentioned, plus Bumper mounts front & rear, Front axle, pay close attention to the sills
Just give it the most thorough mechanical inspection you can
Bear in mind that parts aren't as plentiful or easily available as for beetles, so put this in your brain viewtopic.php?f=25&t=6814
and this, although its now old viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2584

Re: Danger spots
The only known issue with 2nd choice is the play in lower torsion arms- Chino sold the car with several hundred quids worth of bits to do the job- unfortunately those bits are now on my desk & not for sale
T'other issue, as You know is the silly sausage that's selling it has kept it outside, so everything is swimming
