CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY FOR IMPORTED SQUAREBACK

Post by Jared1969 » 29th January 2018 - 9:03pm

Hi all hoping someone can help who has imported a vehicle from the states, I have a 71 squareback currently being welded and prepared for MOT, I am filling in the DVLA V55/5 form, but a lot of the technical Information needs to come from a COC Certificate of Confirmation. This info seems to be generic i.e. width, length unladen weight etc. The companies I have found which supply the info don't seem to have great reputations and surely this info should be available without paying but I cant seem to find it all.

can anyone help or advise who has gone through the process, my squareback should be back from MOT next week and im desperate to get him on the road.

thanks all

I assume the car is stock? and a type 3 sqaureback? If that's the case then the dimensional info is in a Bentley manual IIRC. Ive got one at home which I can check tomorrow night unless someone beats me too it.

hi, yes its completely stock. I appreciate you looking. Not sure if you have seen the V55/5 form but its horrendous. I have paid for a birth certificate from Germany but this can take 6 months. I appreciate your time not sure Bentley manual will give me all the Info but its a start and thanks for assisting.

If you get to the point where you need age verification for a number plate put another post on here - I have the ability to provide DVLA acceptable information, no fees ;)

It was my next post. I have sent off for it’s birth certificate too Wolfsburg, but believe the turn around time is about 6 months. It’s nice to have it with the car anyway. Car should be MOT’d next week. If you could help, let me know what you need.

Thanks really appreciate it

I'll be a bit quicker than Wolfsburg :)

Send me a PM with details of the chassis number, what spec the vehicle is and approximate date you think it is and I will see what I can do. Let me have an email address as well so the PM system doesn't get clogged up.

Have you completed the nova1 form from HMRC?

Also I know the V55 has plenty of space to capture loads of information however it’s not required to have every criteria filled in to deem the log book information complete.

My Cheetah I imported in 2014, has the following information on the log book.

Date of first registration
Date of first registration in U.K.
Make
Body type
Taxation class
Cylinder capacity
Type of fuel
Number of seats
Wheel plan
VIN
Engine number: (not known)
Colour.

That’s it. The rest is blank.

My notchback imported in 2003 has exactly the same fields completed with the rest left blank.

thanks, did think a lot seemed irrelevant, the NOVA doc was done by the person who imported it. I have the doc HMRC saying VAT and duty paid and that I can apply to the DVLA.

quick question, even though I am applying for Heritage tax do I still have to pay a £55 fee for the first registration.

thanks everyone

Pretty sure that you'll have to pay the first registration fee, but you don't need certificate of conformity as the car is over 10 years old.

I suggest you read this thread and links viewtopic.php?f=26&t=9951

I have identified the corresponding information in Glass's Guide, just trying to remember exactly what words I need to use for you :)

I recall with my Cheetah, DVLA kindly highlighted that the information I had entered did not correspond to the Dutch data I had submitted. I queued them stating that I personally do not speak Dutch and asked them to clarify which area of information I had submitted which did not match the Dutch information. They responded by issuing a registration and V5. You just have to play the game, DVLA will eventually write to you to assist you with your application.

Yes pretty sure you have to it the first registration (admin) charge.

Good luck with it! There will be light at the end of the tunnel eventually :)

thanks, with your guys help it feels like i'm getting there. hopefully should have him back this weekend so going to send some pictures to the dvla too with the forms and the Glass Guide information kindly sent to me by David (957carrera). Will post some pics on here paint is a bit ropey but that's my next job, will do while the weathers bad and hopefully be done by April. Also got a set of new window rubbers from the states coming so another job that needs doing. its pretty standard on its original engine so really looking forward to enjoying it.
thanks again all your knowledge has been invaluable.

No not yet. It’s via a mate I have out there. Was going to get as a full set as was coming in a hell of a lot cheaper. About $150 for a full set and $ 50 shipping.

Can ask him for a price if he can do it.

Simon kelley is uk based and supplies them to the USA. So my guess is that he will be cheaper as there isnt the cost of posting to the USA and then back to the UK and any mark up ISP west of WCM add on. as peter pointed out. notch1500 on ebay

Hi all just to say thanks for your help and my Squareback is now MOT’t. It took a bit more welding than I anticipated but it’s done and solid. Seats and carpet going in at the weekend so will post some pics next week. Will get everything sent off to the DVLA so hoping I can be driving him in the next few weeks. Appreciate all your help. A quick question the car came with a new headliner but no instructions, is it a hard job to do right and is there any help anywhere on the forum.

Thanks Jared
