Yeah, I thought so too. I also spotted the 924 to the right of the picture but was unable to identify the blue vehicle

The blue car is an AMC 1960 Rambler American Super. It is also a two door wagon.

Was working on the square today. Had it running while holding the key just so... then, it started running rough. So, I shut it down and went to the rear to investigate. What did I find? The brass fitting had some out of the left carb! So, I went to get stuff to peen it back into place and when I went to get the brass out of the fuel line, the brass came out of the right one too! Oh boy, that could have been bad!

That was somewhat fortunate - bad batch from the carb supplier / rebuilder ?

I had a look around for a better view of the Rambler......... interesting, though not unexpected to see some rear fin remnants in the design, and then I noticed the slightly later type 3 does too

Well, that was interesting. I sent an electrician friend a picture of what was under my dash vs. the 1971 schematic. He came over, found that they (wires vs schematic) sort of matched, sorted out what was needed, and we now have a universal ignition switch wired in. Now I just have to fix both carbs and then try again. Perhaps I will be able to drive the car sometime this week.

The Rambler is physically 6" wider and 4" longer than a squareback. Also, total weight with the big piece of cast iron drive train is only 200lbs more. So, it's whopping 90 bhp will seem brisk compared to a stock t3. But, that is a project for another day...

For the 1st time in almost a year, I drove the squareback. In the morning I will check the timing and then try and journey 95 miles south.

Will it have all the complexities of water cooling, with six cylinders in a narrow Vee pattern.

Well that just leaves engine size and induction method to decide then. Good luck with your packaging challenge

This is the 12v vr6 with distributor. That makes things much easier to package!

I remember by first ever ride in a VR6 engined car, it was a black Austrian Passatt, I was impressed.

The packaging I was thinking of was those pesky water filled radiators and the plumbing that goes with them. Of course go down a forced induction route of some sort and the plumbing will get to be even more fun.
