Too late now but I seem to recall you should not adjust the push rod.
I can't remember what brake system you are running, but start with the basics:
Adjust rear drums
Bleed system
Check for warped discs or wheel bearing play allowing the discs to knock the pads back

No drums.
Porsche 944 front discs, CSP rear discs & CSP master cylinder.
System bleed throughly.
New rear discs and pads, new short axles and wheel bearings.

If you can pump the pedal up, then theres air in there somewhere. Check all the joints in the system for leaks/weeps. Could be tiny and letting air. Maybe be as simple as a bleed nipples a tiny bit loose.
Could also be knock off, but id guess thats unlikely.

Back home with a fresh MOT, and fully operational brakes now there's more brake fluid than air in the rear circuit.
I've acquired a new secure home for the fleet.
Clean out, a couple of coats of paint, new lights, additional sockets and the hard work of moving and sorting all my crap from various lockups so that there's room for vehicles.
Oh, and the new project has arrived.

I've got two shipping containers to sort....
Re: '67 Square continued.....
Was it just a twat to get the air out of the rear circuit? How did you do it in the end? I hate bleeding brakes, it nearly always ends up with a tiny bit of air trapped somewhere.
Like the new unit, is it big enough to get all 3 in? I love a good sort out, good for the mind, good for the wallet usually

Yes, absolute bastard so I was told. Nick at CJ Motors did all the MOT work on the squareback and the bus as I was busy working around Birmingham last week.
He said he clamped off the front lines and bled the rears for ages before he got a decent pedal.
And it is a very decent pedal now.
I'm in the middle of a rewire, painting the walls and sorting some storage solutions, so there's only room for one vehicle at the moment. But once I get all my tools and stuff stored properly hopefully I can squeeze 3 in.
I need to repair the concrete floor in places, so open to suggestions as to what I need to fill the holes with.

That looks like a very smart solution! And nice to hear you save the sections of boot floor too

I save everything, that's why it taken so long to move into the new workshop.

The square has reached it's winter quarters at last.
Needs a really good clean and polish, then a bit of tinkering required. The n/s window regulator decided to fail this morning, so that's been added to the list.
Managed to pick this bargain up whilst out collecting parts for the deluxe bus this week.
Not bad for £38, just missing the locking bar.

Quite impressed with the replacement lifter channel from C&C.
Time to give the square a good wash before I mop and wax it for the winter.
Definitely need new door scrapers and also looks like I need to replace a couple of window rubbers.
The new stroker engine is almost ready for collection as well.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Thanks.
I've been having a few electrical issues for quite a while now, battery going flat, gauges flickering and random lights working for example.
So today I thought I'd make a start at the nearside rear light unit as the tail light was out.
OK, dead short to earth on the rear tail light.
Let's check the fuse.
25A fuse for the sidelight circuit and it's blown. Hmmm, that's definitely not right, it should be an 8A fuse.
Get the power probe out and apply 12V to the fuse holder, rear light illuminates but burning smell and smoke from under bonnet.....
Stripped the loom under the bonnet, lots of connectors, different colour wiring, and a mass of melted insulation.
Front nearside side light cable full short to earth.
Looks like a complete front end rewire next.

Nice to see the proper colours being used and someone removing bodge wiring! Ive no idea why people mess around with wires when they dont have a clue. Its so easy to start a fire and then its game over. Looks like youve dodged a bullet from a previous owner! Nicely played sir.
