Some sexy toy there! Looks like 944 seats in the front of the bus too?

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Very similar, 1971 911 Carrera seats. Picked them up from a Porsche garage just North of Stamford for the princely sum of 100 English Pounds.
Everything else in the back of the deluxe bus is for the type 3.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Progress on any vehicle has been slow lately, so I'd thought I'd make a start on the new engine.
The first thing I do need is a good condition oil cooler though, or I may end up fitting a new Type 1 cooler and a remote oil pressure sender.
Checked and stripped a number of fan housings to get a good pair and a set of working flaps. These will go for media blasting and a clearcoat.
And the rest are scrap.
And progress has come to a halt on this again while I get all the little bits on my list, but the oil cooler is the biggest hurdle at the moment.
Has anybody got a cooler, the flap mechanism that fits above the barrels and a thermostat going spare?

Re: '67 Square continued.....
I have a type 3 cooler that came off my 30k motor - its perfect.
I went with a remote filter and cooler and modified the tinware to get good cylinder cooling.
I can get photos of the cooler to you if you're interested

Slightly more progress on the square now I'm COVID free and out of self-isolation.
Took a drive in the bus the long way round to the lockup.
I've come to a temporary halt on the engine while I await the delivery of some parts, so I thought I'd tackle the new fuel system.
Out with the tank, which was surprisingly easy. I can also tidy the low pressure brake pipes and clean up the normally hidden area under the tank now as well.
Oh, looks like the fuel pipe needs renewing anyway.
I'll need to fabricate a bracket for the fuel pump, any idea what stock FI cars with pumps used?

Re: '67 Square continued.....
When I changed the fuel pipes in the Type 3 engine bay I thought I would undertake an experiment to see if there was any "real world" difference between Cohline ethanol proof hose and a premium ethanol resistant hose. I used a tee piece and the fuel hose (blue text) to the left hand carb was ethanol proof and the fuel hose (yellow text) to the right hand carb was ethanol resistant. The two pieces of 8mm hose were equal lengths and ran the same route, and the clips were torqued as well.
After 15 months the results are in.....
Nothing to see
Some small cracks appearing around the hose clamp
Again, nothing visible on the ethanol proof hose
Much larger cracks appearing on the underside of the right hand hose
Bearing in mind that the car hasn't done many miles since the hoses were replaced, you can see that the ethanol resistant hose is anything but.
IMHO the Cohline fuel hose definitely worth the extra cost.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Back at the lockup today, ready to fit the newly cleaned and painted thermostat, bracket and flap linkage.
Hmm, that doesn't look right.
The rod won't go through the smaller of the holes in the head.
Looks like I'll be running without a thermostat after all that mucking about trying to source a linkage.
Mocked up the tinware, inlet and heat exchanger.
Now the fixing tabs on the heat exchanger don't line up with the tinware holes.
Ate my custard slice and gave up for today.
And very nice it was too.

Very nice to catch up, Ive not read threads for months! I love an engine build and I now fancy a custard slice. I know what im doing tomorrow

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Managed to snap the metal fuel hard line where it goes into the front of the tunnel, it must have been weakened and I'd rather it break now in the lock up with no petrol around than somewhere miles away from home with a full tank.
So now the plan is to replace it with a new 8mm hard line that follows the brake pipe route through the car and AN-6 hose and fittings at the tank and in the engine bay.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
New 8mm copper fuel hardline from under the tank to the engine compartment. Had to reroute the pipe over the rear seat mount and out through the bulkhead next to the heater inlet.
I'm using teflon/ptfe fuel hose with AN-6 fittings from tank to hardline and then from hardline to carbs, so after the tank was cleaned out a new filter sock with an AN-6 tank adapter was fitted.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
At last, the fuel system is almost complete. Tank back in, fuel pump and relay wired and everything working apart from one AN-6 fitting I stripped the thread on. Once that's replaced I can fill it with fuel and drive it.
Pics to follow in a few days when I've taken some.
While the seats are out I can give it all a good clean and rust proof and tidy up, apart from the corroded corners of the floorpan.
So I'll just cut the sound deadening to size and lay it loosely along with the carpet, then I'll fit the new plastic pieces to the seat runners and get the seats back in.
I've managed to locate the pieces of engine lid channel I cut out to fit the IDF filters, so they can be welded back in as well.

Re: '67 Square continued.....
Be happier when the stroker engine is finally fitted, but yes, happy I can use it again.
Just need to get the tracking sorted and drive it through the summer.
