Also i'd check for the low speed/idle jet solonoids functionality (just unscrew them and test on a bench with a 12v supply like testing a relay) you should hear them click, mine were clogged and needed carb cleaner to open and shut properly which was causing near impossible starting, combined with t...

Hi I have followed the static timing advice (yet to put my light on it at idle) and set the timing of my 1600 twin carb according to the Haynes manual for my engine code, It is static timed to the leftmost crank pulley marking which I believe makes it timed to TDC. Now this makes me wonder why there...

I have new modern rubber high pressure fuel pipe hosing at both the tank and the engine end, new jubilee clips etc.... so just looking at this pump as a potential weak spot

Appreciated. Cant seem to find a uk source for that part number (pierberg?) So i think bearing in mind mine seems to be on the way out i'll try the one with the adjustable inlet and outlet pipes from heritage, with new pushrod and bakelite connector and see how that performs.

1600 carb type 3 fuel pump

Anyone know a part number for the mechanical fuel pump for a 1970 1600 type 3 with a dynamo and carbs?

Is it the same as the beetle/t2 part listed on machine7 and vw heritage etc...?

I think mine is a bit weak as it struggles to prime properly when left standing and when tank is less than half full
