Re: Type 3 Washer Bottle Hose Wanted
It`s just the Black Windscreen Washer Tubing used on Beetles, Type 3 etc. Cut to Length from a Roll. Usually cheaper on ebay than from Heritage VW and other suppliers. Yes it does stretch to that size to fit. Or are you missing the Plastic Nut as well ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232282624728 2 metr...

Re: Type 3 Windscreens
Dave Summers, We are in Cumbria ( Westmorland and Furness now ). How much would you want for a Type 3 Windscreen please ? Where in Yorkshire are you going ? Ingleton is 18 Miles along the A65 from here but there`s a lot more of Yorkshire to go at. We are up your way every October / November at Coylu...

Re: Type 3 Windscreens
The Windscreen Rubber is New. All the other Type 3 Window Seals and Trims are Original. They came out and went back in complete as they were. The Windscreen Rubber was very perished so I got a new one. Keith who painted it said it was my fault he damaged the Metal Insert trim because I wanted a New ...

Re: Type 3 Windscreens
Thank you. That`s good to know. I`ll have to see if I can persuade Paul ( IRVs VW Restorations ) that it would not matter if my Windscreen cracked trying to fit the Metal Insert Trim. Unless someone knows they can be fitted without taking the Windscreen out ?

Are Type 3 Windscreens readily available please, New or Good Used ? Still not got anyone to fit my replacement Metal Insert Trim to my Type 3 Windscreen. IRVs VW Restorations did not want to do it " in case the Windscreen cracked ".

Sole survivors: the very rarest cars on UK roads today
This random article came up on my Laptop today : Sole survivors: the very rarest cars on UK roads today. This was the last car on the list. Is it true ? Volkswagen TL ©Volkswagen Volkswagen looked to solve the shortcomings of the Beetle with the TL that was launched in 1961, but arrived as the 1600 ...

Re: Rear Window Seal Installation
Did you get anyone to do it yet ?
I`ve been trying to get someone to fit a Metal Insert Trim to the Front Windscreen Rubber of my 1972 Type 3 Variant. Only one I found wanted £150 + vat which I thought was a bit steep !

Re: Fuel pipe
I stick to Original Pierburg rebuildable Fuel Pumps. I have 2 brand new Type 3 Pierburg Pumps as Insurance for the future. I also have a brand new Type 3 Petrol Tank for the same reason. My Type 3 had a later aftermarket Pump on for some years but they do not look Original, so I Rebuilt the Original...

Engine Builders
Do we have any recommended Air Cooled Engine Builders for our 1600 Type 3 Engine please ?
Andy Pearce rebuilt our 1300 Beetle 6 or more years ago. That has been great. Planned to ask Andy to rebuild the Type 3 Engine. Unfortuantely he has since retired.

Starter Motor did not want to come off the Beetle. When it finally did the Bush came out with it. Stuck on the Shaft. Have bought a new Type 3 Auto Starter Motor to put on. The Type 3 Auto Starter Motor I had kept as a Spare for our Type 3 may be refurbishable but when I started to dismantle it the ...

Re: Type 3 Auto Transmission Starter Motor
I think we will find many suppliers list the Type 3 Auto Trans Starter Motor as a Heavy Duty Starter Motor for other Air Cooled Type 1 Type 2 Type 3.

Type 3 Auto Transmission Starter Motor
I have a vague recollection that a Type 3 Automatic Transmission Starter Motor can be fitted to other Air Cooled VWs. Is that correct please ? Is it a straight swap ? I flattened the Battery on our Beetle a couple of days ago trying to get it to run on a supposedly Reconditioned Carburettor. Since t...

Pierburg Fuel Pump Rebuild
How do you make sure the New Outlet ( Discharge ) Valve stays in the Top Cover when Rebuilding an Original Pierburg Fuel Pump please ? I know they are " Peened in " but don`t know if my Peening would be good enough. I have thought of drilling and tapping for a couple of M2 or M2.5 Screws, and maybe ...

Re: Solex Carburettor Refurbishment
Very nice but a bit pricey by the time it got here with Import Tax and Shipping.
I’ve started from the beginning and set the Carb up to factory settings. Seems it might be worth persevering with it for now.
