Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Thanks everyone out there that has taken time to look at my projects over the years.
It looks like most everyone except the bots have moved on. I miss people in the forums and being able to actually for wht they are doing, but I guess other types of social media have won out Bye all

Three coats of clear. Next up for this lid will be lots and lots of elbow grease! After it cures... 600, 800 and 2000 grit then color sand, cut and buff. 1st light coat https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2319540.jpg 2nd wet coat https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2319541.jpg 3rd fog coat h...

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
The internet said my paint gun was terrible for auto paint. WRONG! I set it up as my paint buddy told me to and it did great! Almost no drag on the 2000 grit sandpaper. Only flaws were one bug and the lack of body work. Tonight, clear coat!

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Coat 4. After it flashes off completely, I will wet sand a little. No, the lid hasn't been body worked, as that was not the intent. It will be covered in like paint and layers so that I can body work the entire car later.

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
The NOS trunklid is no longer in rough delivery primer... used 60 grit out to 600 grit to prep for sealer. Tonight more sanding and sealer. Tomorrow morning, we try and get some basecoat down. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2318615.jpg https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2318614.jpg htt...

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I think I have finally found my 'no reverse' shifter issue in the pink car. After disassembling everything, cleaning, lubing and starting to reassemble I found that over 27 years, the cables have stretched. While they still slide freely, the left to right shift cable has grown almost 3/8". This has ...

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Well after running rich at the Invasion, today I discovered why. My fuel pressure had crept from 2.2 psi to 4.3. The fuel regulator adjuster was still tight. Hmmm... Back down to 2.2 and everything corrected. Now, if getting reverse again was that easy!
