Parts sources

Post by purplepeter » 27th October 2019 - 11:58am

I thought it was time for an updated list of spares sources, but I'm reluctant to delete the old thread as there is still good information in there, so rather than Delete, I've unlocked it & We'll allow it to gradually fade into obscurity!

It's impossible to categorise parts availability from all of the sources, as many of them supply a wide range of products, so I think the best advice is to familiarise yourself with all of them especially before committing to purchase

Excellent work! I dont know if it needs clarifying. Ive only got solex 32 carb gaskets, not 1500 single carb stuff.

Id include VWHeritage as well, they are a VW affliate and carry a fair few type 3 specific parts

I would suggest adding Brickwerks for top quality bits like fuel hose etc, They started out with T25 which of course have a type 4 derived engine, but have now expanded the range, but mainly vans

Heritage Parts Centre now, no VW affiliation.
I wouldn't use them unless it's a last resort, had wrong parts sent, poor after sales service, and there's a definite lack of knowledge there now (won't beetle parts fit?).

Good stuff, I bought loads of bits and pieces from the following when I did my build:

Machine 7
Car builder Solutions
Woolies trim
AES - electrical
Frost - for paint (POR15)
CPS - Germany
1971 VW Type 3 1600 TE Fastback. Body off Resto completed, now just bits and pieces and niff naff to do.
