I need to get my exhaust off to either repair it or replace, depending on whether and how quickly I can get a different one. I am assuming that it fits to the rear of the heads using studs and to the heat exchangers using clamps. The clamps should be no problem, but what is access like to the studs? Do you have to remove any tin and does anyone have any tips on how best to do this?
Thanks.

Re: Removing a T3 exhaust
There are 2 13mm nuts holding the primary exchangers on each side.
Plus 2 Air clamps between primary & main exchangers (Slotted,so just undo with a screwdriver)
Plus 2 Jubilee clips on the fresh air pipes (Slotted,so just undo with a screwdriver)
You also need to detach the 2 cooling elbows from the fanhousing (again, slotted
You can get the bottom 2 13mm nuts with an open ended spanner from underneath.
Top 2 are more difficult..I use a 13mm 1/4" drive socket & extensions
That gets you to the stage of having the exhaust off with primarys still attached.I use an Air Hammer to detach the primaries

Re: Removing a T3 exhaust
Thanks for the advice purplepeter - I have managed to loosen the nuts OK, although it's a tight squeeze to get to the top ones. All clamps and clips are off, but the connections to the heat exchangers are stuck together pretty well, so it won't come loose.
Any suggestions as to how best to deal with this? I am assuming that the exchanger is rusted into the exhaust.
Thanks,
Colin

The primaries?..Ultimately you've got the option of cutting them off the silencer to gety a socket on the nut,but only if you're sure the exhaust is beyond redemption
Plenty of plus gas & the Air chisel on the points of the nut has always done it for me

Re: Removing a T3 exhaust
Sorry, should have made it clearer what I meant - it's the joint at the bottom where the pipe from the front exhaust ports joins the silencer box. It's the joint where one pipe fits inside the other (flared) pipe and is held by a clamp.
I am hoping that the second hand exhaust I am buying will have the primaries on it already, so I hopefully won't need to remove them at all.

Re: Removing a T3 exhaust
Lots of hammering & swearing at it then!
But have a dig around as well in case the previous owner added some Exhaust paste
Do remove the primaries from old exhaust..The going rate is £15-25 each for them

Re: Removing a T3 exhaust
Managed to get the old one off today - lots of heat, hammering and a bit of swearing did the trick. The actual box is well gone (even more so now!), but primaries and tailpipe are good, so I will get them off. I think I will keep them with the car when I sell it so the next owner can go back to a completely standard exhaust if they want to.
The second hand exhaust I got is one of the standard style aftermarket ones, but it is solid, was cheap and will be fine to get it through the MoT. Have got it in place, but not properly mounted yet as I ran out of time today.
Thanks for the advice anyway!
