I'm slowly rebuilding my 72 fastback and I'm at the stage of fitting the petrol tank and all the hoses. Amongst the bits and pieces I found this small shuttlecock shaped filter. I haven't seen these parts for about 4 years and can't remember removing this filter and I can't see where it would actually fit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Doesnt look like Type 3 Part to me.

The tank outlet has a "finger" sized gauze filter

And it will depend which fuel pump you have fitted. It may or may not have this kind of filter (the little white cone)

Yes, I can't see anywhere it would fit. It's far too small for the tank filler hose and too big for the overflow connection. It's about 4 years since I stripped the car down for the restoration but I have no memory of that part from then.

That looks like the filter that fits under the filler cap for the brake reservoir.
