I thought this may help someone.
I’m all for originality but my 412 glovebox was trashed.
Having no luck with a replacement I found an old 944 glovebox in my shed.
With only a little trimming with a Dremel this thing fitted a treat. It’s pretty much the same height and fits perfectly behind the dash. It looks like it was made for the Type 4 now!
I’m working on converting a factory dash knob to hold the cable , so I just pull it and the bonnet pops.
Can’t notice anything sticking out underneath when the glovebox is closed. Doesn’t foul any hoses or wiring and as a bonus you can fit more junk in. I know my glovebox lid needs adjusting - the 944 liner doesn’t fowl the lid.
Type 4 Glovebox liner. Replaced using Porsche 944 glovebox.

That's really good to know, I assume it was from an early 944, so 924 might also be an option ?
Looks like you have been busy painting the dash too

Just takes a few templates to get the shape exactly right against the dash. And if I happen to find a good glovebox liner it’s all reversible.
Yes I thought I’d give it a go.
