The story continues...

Well, that's the back of the job broken

Outer skin from the rear wing removed

IMAG1604.jpg
IMAG1604.jpg (150.74 KiB) Viewed 9404 times

A little more trimming so the cut would fit in the van better

IMAG1605.jpg
IMAG1605.jpg (123.22 KiB) Viewed 9404 times

But it was still too big so another big cut required

IMAG1606.jpg
IMAG1606.jpg (116.26 KiB) Viewed 9404 times
and at the end of the day this is what was left, with all the rear suspension removed. This was taken after a bit of sweeping up

which concludes the days activities. I have something I need to do tomorrow, so will be in touch with people for your requests during the week

Thank again for hosting David. All cuts now safely stored for processing although a fair bit got swept out the van! I'm beginning to have hope that I've got enough metal to make mine solid again. Cleaning and cataloguing other parts as I go. Might be a few years yet!

It was a pleasure Rich, glad you got home safely and everything unloaded. If this really does make all the difference to getting your project on the track to completion I'll be really delighted. There is quite a bit more metal and strength in a type 4 than I perhaps thought.

David, what was that stuff you mentioned for repairing rubbers? Got rear impact strip off and the rubber is split on the back but hasn't rusted the metal strip inside so want to seal it.

Sikafkex ........ it's a polyurethane adhesive, strong stuff and has been used to strengthen engine mounts

There's all types of Sikaflex, a bit like loctite, but the PU adhesive is probably the best known

I am hoping to get some pictures done for people today, in the meantime, the following "big bits" remain available

Front bonnet x 2
Front valance - upper / centre section is good
Tailgate
Doors, left and right
Complete interior in alabaster (pale cream)
Rear wings, but lower sections are in the usual condition

David, interior looks ideal for the Variant so could I take that along with the dash please?

I can come and collect anytime in the next week.

Many thanks.

I kinda like the front panel the bit with head lights and number plate, would look awesome as wall art, how much for that posted along with the other bits I asked about?

I like that idea. ...... though it does look a bit Christine'ish.... hope you sleep well  Of course if I had known that I wouldn't have removed the badge and bars from it that you had your name down for :)

I'll let you know Danny when I work it out....... first of all I need to separate the steering wheel from the column and get the radio out of the dash.

I managed to create some space by getting one of the cars sold so the remains of this are still available.

I am wanting to recover the space for another car so it's likely this will be going for recycling imminently...... speak now if there's anything you have forgotten
