Thanks for hosting. Always enjoy a day of parts salvage! Will be back with a van for the roof, bulkhead behind the petrol tank, floors and rear side cuts. And mustn't forget the ball-joints and other bits too. Two cars shall become one! Such a strange thing to pull so much good stuff from a car that seems so bad!

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Yes, it's satisfying to save everything useful off a rotten car. I thought I'd done that with my 4-door 411 a few years ago, but then when I took the front subframe off my 412 project, two of the three bolts sheared. If i'd cut into the inner wings on the scrap car and kept the sliding nuts I'd have saved myself a bit of work.

Yeah, the blue one is the way I go. I'm planning on setting off around 6am Saturday morning but need to confirm with David that Saturday is okay to go up. If you're up early we could meet Doncaster way.

Keep me posted. About 45 minutes to Doncaster for me. So not to much of an early start.
Couple of places between junction 3 and 4 on the M18 that work for me as a meeting point.

David, I'll call tomorrow. I had another look round my project and might want some more cuts, if they're not claimed already.
Broady, Saturday early doors is good for me. Whereabouts? Send me a post code so sat nav can tell me where to go!

Like Rich I've had a look at my 411 - peeled the boot carpet off for the first time. I can confirm that the spare wheel well and surrounding floor would be very useful for it if Rich doesn't need them. Huge gap in the spare wheel well, and the left side of the floor is well holed. Right side not so bad. Upright (in front of the petrol tank) is solid except some possible porosity where some seam sealer has come off.
If the part of your boot lining that sits over the spare wheel is reasonable I would be interested in that too.
Rich - your car sounds like a big project. I hope you're successful.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
The wheel well itself seems pretty good, and some of the area around, so that would seem to be a good match.
We chopped the nose off last weekend, in case that was of any use. The rear section below the tailgate seems OK, except for the lower edges, but I think your is a saloon, so no use for you ? That was another area to potentially save.
The way things are going Richt's car is going to be a 411.5, rather than a 412

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Thanks David. Yes, I saw from the photo that the nose was off. My front end seems sound enough.
The car is a saloon and I got a full rear end for it some time ago off another scrapper. I have a 412 Variant too but the body on it is pretty good - still needs some work around the fresh air box and rear wheel arches but otherwise solid.
Are your seats white under the dirt? If so, they're the same as mine (front only, obviously). I didn't ask before as mine aren't bad, and carriage or storage could be a problem, but if nobody else wants them, it would be a shame if they had to be dumped.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Dave, I posted a few photos of my project under the imaginative title '412 project' in the Member cars and projects section so you can see what I'm trying to resurrect.
David, I think I'm gonna want that rear valance. And everything else that isn't rust. Might need some more cutting discs!!! I see you've seen the photos - it actually looked sort of okay with all the panels on, if you squinted at it, with just one eye, from quite far away! I think 411.9 might be more accurate by the time its all said and done.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Looks like the final stages and cutting will be taking place on Saturday.
Lots of stuff being reused, a couple of chunky items that have no home:
Doors (pretty good apart from the bottom section
Tailgate - very good
Interior, seats and doorcards - needs a good clean but no cuts etc
Dave Summers - I'll try and get a photo for you.It would be better if there was a home for the full variant interior, lets' see

Hi David.
I could do with a set of seats for my Variant as mine are torn apart but understand if Dave Summers needs them. If so could I have second dibs please?
EDIT. I’m also after a rear boot carpet if it’s survived and any interior door/ tailgate panels.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Richt has snaffled the carpets and I believe the door cards / handles are different between 411 and 412 so they won't fit, which is a bit of a shame as that could have meant the whole interior being reused.

Stevosquare, I'm happy for you to have the seats. The front ones in my 411 aren't too bad and obviously the Variant rear one won't fit.Stevosquare wrote: ↑3rd July 2020 - 12:13amNo problems. If there’s any news on seats please let me know.

Just had a thought - if you're replacing your seats could I buy the cables that pull the backrests forward from your old ones? I've got a broken cable in my 412.Stevosquare wrote: ↑3rd July 2020 - 12:13amNo problems. If there’s any news on seats please let me know.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly
Another long day with Richtbiscuits getting bits and cuts from the shell. We have been eating cutting discs,so here's the day in pictures
First of all some rear views, rear wings removed
Then we went to the front and took a cut of the wheel well for Dave Summers
Oooh that's a change, anyone fancy a 411 speedster ?
