hi there.
ive recently joined the club so i thought id post some pics of my car for you guys to hav a look at.not sure how to get the pics on screen so ive added the links to where they live
its the original magnesium 1700 with a pair of 40 idf carbs.a 009 dizzy, pertronix igniter 2 electronic ignition and an empi exhaust.
she makes a great noise on full chat.
the pics make her look better than she is,which is a bit rough round the edges.

indeed she was.wasnt what i was looking for at all.
ive been into vws since i was a kid(some might argue that at 32 i still am ) ,and ive had a 71 bay for nearly 10 years now.but old cars in general are a passion. :D
i was looking for a diesel mercedes actually, but the one i was bidding on was withdrawn.so i had a browse about and saw her.had nothing but fun since.
needs a few cosmetic touches and the suspension sorting out but other than that shes solid as a rock.
im going to have a go at drag racing in the new year.with the engine as is im expecting to run high 17s.
i also plan on getting to as many shows as possible to keep the type 4 flag flying :)

Hi,

Ive just signed up to the type 3&4 owners club forum and seen your car.
Is it the one that was for sale on VZI & Ebay?

Looks canny, I’m up in Gateshead but movin back to Durham City soon and just in the throws of having my 411 Variant sorted.

Take a look at – www.georgekinghorn.co.uk/411

I’m going down the HotRod road with he first then a full paint job later in the year.
Ive been Drag Racing since I was 17 (16 years ago) & used to work for Barry Sheavills when we where winning the British Top Alcohol title back in the 90’s so if ya fancy a bit of bench racin anytime giz a shout!

a couple of botched things to sort out.but she is ok.
i plan on doing her as an i or h/gas racer.if i decide to keep her long term.
im very fickle when it comes to cars,i like loads of stuff and i want to do it all.
im slamming a merc estate at the minute.

no it wouldnt take a lot at all.
im thinking orange metalflake paint with green tinted windows.there wasnt much interior when i bought her,so ive stripped out whats left and stored it safely so i can put it back in when i decide to sell her.
thats not a plan at the minute, as im hoping to attend the club show, if they have one,so i can look at everyone elses.
ive got a lot of stuff i want to do and shows to go to,i just hope none of them clash.like ive said the benz is getting all the attention at the minute.doing a sort of rat look pimpmobile.slow and low.fintail mercs, mmm.theres a guy near me, nicky porter, historic rallies one.i got to have a sit in it.lovely
i see your from devon.where abouts?i lived in newquay for a while, and still have friends there.beautiful part of the world.

your not wrong there matey.i moved there with my girlfriend and it didnt work for me.we agreed to split and i came home, gutted.were still good friends though.
i told you i was fickle, well this weeks fad is japanese cars and the bosozuka styling trend.im scouring the net to try to find a 70s datsun cedric or a toyota crown.ive got no money to spend but im enjoying looking.
the 411 was looking sorry for itself yesterday so i had a thrash about for an hour.never fails to put a smile on my face.if all goes to plan im going to have my first blitz down the strip at the big bang.not going to kill her cos il have to drive there and back.about 500 miles round trip.thats going to be fun, a very loud car with no interior on the motorway.il be deaf(er) by the time i get there.

We've looked at the link - it doesn't end in .gif or .jpg so can't recognise it as an image. Still, it loads as a link when clicked - best we can do, sorry.

Hi there, I’ve just purchased the car: and wondered if the people on this thread are still active, it’s in need of a Resto but rest assured I’m doing it to the highest standard. My email is 1066typethree@gmail.com if you have any info or pics.

Kind regards Dan
