411 2-door for restoration

Post by Dave Summers » 11th April 2024 - 10:53pm

I've just seen this one on Ebay - a car I nearly bought many years ago, and would have done if the owner (then in Wales) hadn't called off the sale. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186380433130 ... SwdJJmEmDa

So somebody's trying to make a quick buck!
Long ago I was on my way north from I forget where when I diverted to Wrexham to view it. I was very impressed with how it drove. A few weeks later I was going to a conference in Llandudno and had arranged to buy it on my way back home. I bought single train tickets, arranged accommodation in Ayrshire for a stop I was making on the way home on the basis that I'd be driving, and was actually waiting for a bus into town to catch my train when the owner phoned to say he didn't feel he could sell it because he'd been quoted £600 for welding. Having seen the car I felt he could probably get a better price for the repair. I don't know if he eventually sold it with or without the welding being done, but Cliff Currie later bought it. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4756
