Nope. Too much tire pressure and a missed gear. Both on me...

Looks like all my ordered parts are delayed in shipping via 4 different couriers. Grrrrrr!
USPS, UPS, FEDEX and DHL. It's a conspiracy I tell ya...

Well, the body will have to come back off for the next few steps. I need full access to the suspension and tunnel. It is ok though, I knew it was coming.

4 lug Speedmasters, very nice.
Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Yes, 5.5 with 4.75 backspacing...23x7x15 tires on the rear, probably 175/60r15 on the front.

Trying ro get at least 30 minutes in 3 nights a week...
Tonight, I mounted the new agle shifter and Kirky seat brackets. Found out they, the brackets, are not tall enough.

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I'm a little intrigued by the tyre sizes.
At first I thought slick on the rear, and treaded on the front, which wouldn't make sense to me, and then realised that 23 would not be a suitable diameter for a slick so came to the conclusion that there was a 5 missing from the rear tyre, so it would be a 235 x 70 x 15. Then you go and throw up a picture of a slick.
Are slicks sold with the diameter in inches in the States ?
That being the case, what type of tyre are you intending to fit to the front, still a radial road tyre ?
I can't see any manufacturer name or details on the slick either, what are they and radial or crossply ?

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
These are a 23" slick made by M&H. They are a better match for the gearing I wish to run, than the traditional 26" tall slick. The old Firestone 6" wide slick fit ngk under the rear fenders, but they arw no longer available. The M&H have too much cross section. These shorter, but wider 7" slicks actually have less overall cross section and should measure out closer to a 205/50r15.

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I guessed correctly then, 23" is equivalent to a 580 over on this side of the pond
As for M & H I have never heard of them, but a quick google for "M & H tires" took me to a UK site which retails them. In the process answering the question about the fronts you are planning to run. As their target market is drag strips rather than circuit racing, it doesn't really matter what you have on the front then

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Correct. I spoke at length last weekend to several racers that have run radials and drag front tires over time. They all said that speed rating is the most important for the front tires. Since I will not be blistering fast, radials are fine AND much less $ than drag racing front tires.

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
175/60/15 looks a bit overtyred then, how about a nice 145/60/15, reducing the frontal area and aero drag

Competition Eliminator heads ported and polished. These heads flow almost 80cfm @ 25" water more than what is on the engine now.

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
That sounds like an exceedingly large chunk of extra air and power, but without knowing the standard it's difficult to judge against others, especially when i'm calibrated for 10" water

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
Well, #s run, vs weight suggest I have 135 rwhp. So, based on the new flow #s, i should see about 200 rwhp under ideal conditions. If that happens, life should be fun.

Decided on front tires. 175/55r15 is on the way here.
The rear end is going to be an IRS/swingaxle hybrid with a transmission raise.

I'm running 175/55/15 on the front of the squareback, abeit with 50bhp less than you.
Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I have 175/55r15 in the pink car as well, I just wasn't sure If I wanted a series taller or a dedicated race bias ply.

The only time I think this is remotely ok. Car needs a diet... this is just one part of it all.

This Saturday is it. If the rain comes, it is still it. The last race for the car. After that, back to a street only car for the pink notch. I'm sad, and happy. I'm looking forward to the next version of the car though...
